RIP Bro

One of my older brothers died last Tuesday on the operating table. He kept his condition a secret from the rest of the family and it was a stunning shock to us all. He managed some apartments near Cornell University in addition to other work.

Some know I was in the hospital a couple of weeks ago with heart problems. He was one of only a couple of people I spoke with during my week stay and the only family member. We spoke about possibly moving in together to help with growing medical expenses. He never once mentioned himself and when I asked him if he was doing OK he shrugged it off. He was barely into his 50's.

This year why don't you contact a relative you haven't seen in a while and go ahead and pry a little bit. :2 cents:

Damn man. that sucks.

Lucky for me I talk with my brothers at least once a month and one is supposed to come and spend a few days with us right before we head out on vacation.

Sorry for your loss.

LeeD 05-26-2014 07:31 AM

Sorry for your loss. I recently saw my parents for the first time in a year and a half. Seeing how my dad has declined as well as the realization of the distance I put between me and my family sure made me rethink a lot of things.

Sorry to hear

dyna mo 05-26-2014 09:01 AM

fuck, I don't know what to say man. It sounds like things are extremely tough there right now.

I appreciate the advice to pry. My sister and I, while not estranged, don't speak much or visit. She has kids and when I became a porner back in 1999 she decided to distance her family from that. And that's the way it's been. When we chat it's *maybe* on a birthday/holiday and the topics are kept very generic, like the weather, etc.

My brother died 3 weeks ago, he was 25. I feel you.

Hang in there, and sorry for your loss. Get your health in check.

why do the topics need to be kept generic? We all know you have lots of other interests other than your work. I think you are one of the few around here that almost has as many hobbies as i do heh. I never talk about work when i'm with family myself, other than that things are busy and i'm doing well.

Not sure, I never talk about work with family either. I would guess the reason these days for the general chitty chat is prolly due to how far we've drifted apart. I'm guessing though, I could ask her (which I've round aboutly done) and she would say she doesn't know what I'm talking about and as far as she knows, we get along just fine.

Sorry for your loss, Tom. My condolences.

I lost my sister a few years back to an accidental prescip med overdose - she was only in her 40s.

Definitely, I support your suggestion about prying. Being inquisitive isn't really prying, it demonstrates you care.

Spunky 05-26-2014 05:09 PM

25...that's just not right. Sorry to hear about that, Sly. Think of him and he'll always be with you.

I will pray for him and for Tom's bro at the Fox shrine tonight.
