But what's the difference between that and distributing the TV show without commercials? What do you think is the only way that TV show generates revenue? Ads, the same as your site.

Of course you own the DVD. You can throw it out, you can smash it, you can use it as a coaster, and if you have some way to overwrite the information on it, you can format it and use it to store backups of your word documents on it.

You just don't own the intellectual property that came on the DVD.

You can even give it to your friend.

You can also sell the DVD to a used DVD store.

That is a fucking awesome collection.

There is something to be said for music when you can enjoy liner notes and whatnot.

Thats a little more than half.

As you can see a few of the towers are still brown. I am in the process of getting something big enough for the whole damn collection.

I have a habit of painting everything i own black.

anyhow, I have nearly as much scattered in other things and a ton of very rare import CDs I dont play, but I do jam the mp3s.

As an extensive music collector, I appreciate being able to rip a copy of a disc instead of fucking it up.

I have discs I have paid over 50 bucks for.

I have access to DAT, ADAT, 2 inch analog, vinyl pressing, ProTools, AVID, ... theres not a media out there I couldnt keep up with.

But yeah itll suck, but shit, I got a couple hundred DVDs now, so let em move to DVD audio, ill just start buying those.

Maybe theyll finally get into my prediction.

Audio dics with full band discographies on em.

Insteads of buying 6 Doors discs. Get the DVD with all 6 on them. Multilayered, for like 25 bucks.

Ive seen some recent bands like Tom Petty have his DVD version out for 16 bucks. Instead of regular CD.

And the DVDs are cooler because you get videos too.

More stuff to trade I suppose.
