A 34-year-old Texas woman pretended to be a high school sophomore for nearly an entire school year, fooling teachers, classmates and even the woman who took her in, school officials said.

?Everyone we talked to assumed she was a teenager like she said she was, because she looked like one,? Stuart Newlin, principal of New Life Christian School in Longview, Texas, told ABC News.

?She had friends," he said. "Everybody liked her.?

It?s not clear why Charity Anne Johnson, who was arrested this week, allegedly enrolled at the school in October as 15-year-old Charity Stevens.

?That?s the mystery. We have no clue,? Newlin said.

Johnson had no transcripts but said she had been home schooled, he added.

?She came in with a guardian; there was no reason to be suspicious,? Newlin said. ?Usually, parents come in, they fill out the paperwork and we take their word for it. If they come from another school, you transfer records. If they come from home school, they don?t have those records.?

Don't you have to provide some ID when enrolling? Or is asking for it racist?
Reading the article it seems that any kid could enroll anywhere he wants, maybe jump classes if he/she looks older. :1orglaugh

My simple point was that it is common sense to ask for ID.

A new sophomore may not have an ID, that age range is 14-16, depending on a few factors.

believe it or not :) not all kids have i.d. home schooling its not required

Can't blame them for not noticing. At 15 lots of black girls have stretch marks from popping a baby.

this is exactly why we need IDs to protect voting. How many thousands are in voting booths they dont belong in, voting democrat? almost enough to steal the presidency from bush in 2000, apparently.

Maybe in Texas but not anywhere I've been. My family recently moved states, and for my kids it took: (1) original birth certificates; (2) immunization records; (3) several forms, parental ID, (4) proof of correct residence (utility bill). Then they pull records from the other school . . .

... but there must be backdoors for the disenfranchised, especially in poor communities.
