I am back from the wilderness
...had to take one of my dogs to the vet. He ripped a nail/toe and needed stitches. I will probably be in for a week or so.

I on the other hand am now OUT in the wild. In fact the ice just today broke apart on the lake. It was a glorious site.
Fishing won't be far off now. |

I've always wanted to visit someplace so clean I could drink right from the stream. Going trekking in Nepal soon, perhaps in the Himalayas I'll be able to do that for the first time. |
Coming back every 3 months. What's the point? :)

Further more I have posted pics of PF as well as myself and a couple of military documents...and I regret doing so...as I and the pics were just flamed...and a few ignorant souls still call me Pathfinder.

The meat out of the fish in this lake is snow white, and the tastiest on the planet I tell you. Zero impurities. And the lake home I'm staying at right now on this lake just happens to be for sale. |

I'd far far rather drink from a high-altitude snowmelt fed spring rather than a lake like that with so much surface area and shoreline, there's just too much access for something to contaminate it. |

TheKing --- Yes, I'm at my uncle's place right now. And for a mere $549,000 CDN someone is soon going to score one hell of a lake home for themselves. |

I'd say aside maybe from the dog days of August when there's a lot of sediment hanging in the water with little to no undercurrents, you could definitely take a gulp of water out of this lake and feel good about it. I can think of only a couple of pristine lakes in central Canada that come close to this one, Shoal lake being one, which incidentally is the lake that fed the city of Winnipeg most of it's water supply for many decades. I'm not saying you're wrong in what you're saying, I'm just saying you might not want to paint all lakes and ecosystems with the same brush. |

You're right though, the place is quite fabulous. |

Yup, I've spent plenty of time at high mountain lakes at over 8000ft where there were no human habitations for 30+ miles, and the water is fed from brand-new snowmelt right at the source. It does not get much purer than that. You can probably drink from such places a hundred times or more with no problem, but the one time a marmot sharts somewhere and you pick up a trace organism from that - well, the resulting effects will make you reconsider like me! But sometimes we all gotta learn the hard way I guess.
