question about paysite video lengths.

How do you suppose one should serve the videos to members?
This is just an example of 1 movie of 20 minutes.

One clip that is 20 minutes long
or 20 clips that are all 1 minute long?
...or both?

what format? mpeg?
is mpeg the only one I should use, or others?
I will not be streaming the videos, so they're all downloadable.

any suggestions?

well obviously both...

20 mini clips for 56kers and a 20 min vid for broadband...

also do MPEG and Windows Media and if you want mac user Quicktime.

Agree with everything Darren said.

Good Info, I'm in the process of editing videos for my Tara site and was not sure which formats and lengths to use!

What you think is better to do: stream or downloadable files or both?

both downloadable and stream. fair amount of debate over this issue but downloadable movies are what surfers want - i think the
cost extra bandwidth chewed up by offering downloadable mpegs is made up by better retention. You will see paysites that obviously feel differently and don't offer movies for download.

lol I was just going to ask the same question. I think I will leave out the quicktime.

My problem is I have some video content in .mov. Can't find software that will convert it to mpg. TMPGEnc didn't work even with the quicktime plugin and vegas is a little expensive for me.

ditto. i offer one huge clip for the broadbanders, then cut that clip up into one minute clips for the dial ups. i also offer said clips in rm, wmv, and mpeg. i make sure everyone can see my stuff, including the webtv'ers. :winkwink:
