Firefox 29.0.1 sucks

Beware, major changes in Firefox from build 28.0 to 29.0.1. Besides the new layout, there are a bunch of add-on incompatibilities.

seeandsee 05-11-2014 04:34 PM

I already like tab design and also more stable, but addons will be fixed soon as always in such situations

Zeiss 05-11-2014 04:34 PM

And why does it suck? I only had a small problem with sync but got it solved by creating a new account and updating on other devices...

AdPatron 05-11-2014 04:41 PM

Looks ok here.

myleene 05-11-2014 05:14 PM

DownThemAll, Firebug, FirePicker, Flash Video Downloader and PageRank 2.0 work well.

Other plugins aren't enabled by default as I keep browser them to a minimum.

I don't have any problem with this version beside the "Google Chrome look" which I hated at first and I'm slowly getting used to. I still dislike it.

baddog 05-11-2014 05:27 PM

I so hate the color scheme

oppoten 05-11-2014 06:30 PM

Yep, sucks for me too.

KillerK 05-11-2014 06:43 PM

It's ok, but usually when I use new interfaces it takes a few days to get used to it.

brentbacardi 05-11-2014 06:52 PM

Firefox has gone downhill, I don't use it anymore.

Darkcrni 05-12-2014 01:21 AM

Yeah....it's like a shit.

I shouldn't update!

martinsc 05-12-2014 01:41 AM

works great for me :thumbsup :thumbsup

brassmonkey 05-12-2014 01:56 AM

i used addon classic theme restorer

Zeiss 05-12-2014 02:07 AM

Looks like most people can't adapt to new things quickly. You know, sometimes when someone helps you, you don't see it...

klinton 05-12-2014 02:09 AM

AFAIK even 28.0 sucks completely... 27.0 was the last stable version for me...

now 29 crashes with "https everywhere", and I have problems with other plugins too

One can never be too careful downloading software. To be safe, I'd rather get it directly from the source. These are all of the official Firefox releases from Mozilla.

FileHippo is relatively safe, besides that everyone should have a good Antivirus like Kaspersky or Avast with something like Malwarebytes AntiMalware.

InfoGuy 05-12-2014 04:19 AM

Kaspersky is shit and consumes too much resources.

signupdamnit 05-12-2014 04:54 AM

Read around. You can restore most of the old functionality using the customization options. There is even an extension to restore the old add on bar if you need it. A big help for me was knowing that pressing ALT temporarily restores the old menu bar.

Lykos 05-12-2014 05:06 AM

I stop using it once Chrome came up. Much better!

Best-In-BC 05-12-2014 06:30 AM

Chrome still doesn't compare to what Firefox has as far as options and configurability. Chrome is faster (less so now) and has less hassles (flash is bundled in). It's more for people who want it to "just work and fast". I wouldn't call it the expert browser or say that Firefox users are newbies.

BlackCrayon 05-12-2014 06:51 AM

no problems here but i only use two add ons.

michael.kickass 05-12-2014 07:24 AM

Working ok here so far.

Barry-xlovecam 05-12-2014 07:33 AM

Change sucks!!!
But that is how we make money on the Internet.

I have 4 computers with the new Firefox on it -- 3 LINUX and 1 Windows I haven't had any real issues other than:

"where the hell did they put my shit!!!" :upsidedow .

Par for the course ...

HomerSimpson 05-12-2014 08:34 AM

Worst thing is that shit auto-updated on me.

Fucking assholes :321GFY

Klen 05-12-2014 01:58 PM

Well looks like this thread slowly turn into drama lama lol

clickhappy 05-12-2014 02:25 PM

I dont understand why these browsers just dont include flash instead of having to download it.
When you use Chrome everything works right away

InfoGuy 05-12-2014 04:24 PM

It's ironic that when Google was just getting off the ground, they paid Mozilla $1 for everyone who download/installed the Google Toolbar. Now Mozilla is trying to emulate Chrome.

Jim_Gunn 05-12-2014 04:25 PM

I still love Firefox. The variety of add-ons are amazing. The Classic Theme Restorer plugin made the new version 29.0 whose UI changes I hated look just like the older versions again.

SekobA 05-12-2014 10:27 PM

not bad.i use it all the time

They want to take back what is taken from them

blackmonsters 05-15-2014 05:29 AM

Firefox crashes on my computer.
Since the update I've had my computer crash twice and that usually never happens.

Marshal 05-15-2014 06:42 AM

Try this add-on:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fir...rc=userprofile
It will bring back the old looks and compatibility. :winkwink:

There are good reasons actually. One is that if every application did this it would lead to a lot of wasted resources. The other is that it violates modularity and make sit harder to resolve issues should you get hit with a bug involving the bundled version of flash. Finally there is the licensing issue. Particularly with some Linux distributions who do not like distributing non-free software.
