You Kidding? They Still Use THIS In The USA?
http://www.engadget.com/2014/05/08/u...=rss_truncated
I thought all Debit/Credit cards had the chip - globally! I havent seen the strip at the back for like, well at least a decade! :1orglaugh |
'bout time
My debit card uses just the strip and its soooooo much faster at the atm
Sadly not as safe |
lol lots of cards are still with strip
Op should get out of the house more if he thinks everyone's cc is like the one his mom has.
It seems we do not have this here in the US... Can't imagine why; Banks must be loosing a ton of money when fraud happens.

the new system requires a complete change of all hardware and everything, multi-billion transition. after quite a bit of research, chip & pin is not (much) better than swipe. |
USA is behind on a lot of stuff. What's crazy is a lot of developing countries are WAY ahead on a lot of things, where it should be the other way around. ATMs, mobile phones, cards, bill paying, travel, etc.
Only chip here. If I am at a store and its strip only I don't purchase, or I pay cash.
well - i also havent had checks since 10 years...
I have no idea what this crazy newfangled chip invention is, so obviously still in the Stone Age with the rest of my fellow fat Walmart-shopping 'Murricans.
Does that even come close to as much surprising as the fact that they still use cheques from the 19th (?) century? :)
Nice one - With any luck that means Paxum will need to get them - I will renew my card when that happens...

Usa has so much infrastructure already setup it isnot easyto switch. Developing countries have new tech because they never deeply adopted the old tech to begin with.
if it works, why fuck with it? how is this better for consumers... oh, that's right, it's not...

That's the reason some of the developing countries have amazing mobile networks that are way better than ours... |
Why not?
ridiculous checks and decades old magnetic strips on credit cards, i guess they also still accept rocks, shells and mirrors as payment in the US.
