How do generals get so many medals when they spend there time so far from the front?

Generals don't participate in combats. Look how old they are, pretty sure they had enough real battles when they were younger and lower in ranks.

After the ceremony in Moscow, Putin flew directly to Sevastopol,Crimea.

Say what you want about Russia and their current actions, but they sure did take the brunt of the damage from the Nazis. No one lost more men and material than the Russians.
