Does anyone know of any mainstream small business forums or resource sites that are worth a damn?

Try linkedin groups, find a local group, it's hit/miss.

I've gone to some meetup.com groups in the area around here (Des Moines) and have made some good contacts. Some of that stuff really benefits you if you live in a high population density area.
