If you like a good Pinot then try one from New Zealand - Best in the world...

The French may take offense to that.. hehe. NZ Pinots are great though, as are West Coast Pinots from Oregon and Washington, both offer big bang for the buck and as fickle as the grape is, consistency. Californian Pinots from the Russian River Valley and Central coast are good too, but the price is climbing.

But I must confess the best that Ive ever had have come from Burgundy, uber expensive and very hit and miss though. But when they are on.. they are spot on.

@ ShowMe69, thanks for the recommendation, I'll try that one out. Not sure if I'll find it up here and how out of whack the price will be. You never know with the LCBO, sometimes they are priced below the US market.. and sometimes they tax the shit out of it.

You touched upon the problem with most French wine - 'consistency' - I can be certain that if I buy a new world Pinot it will be at least drinkable and probably very good - Buying french on the other hand is a minefield...

I have a french housemate at the moment and even he buys New World.....
