I met with Andrew. He seems genuinely interested in turning the company around and going back to the roots of quality. Unfortunately I don't think he is going to be hands on with the Penthouse side of the company at all and the powers that be over at Penthouse are still creating what I would categorize as mostly mediocre content. (Occasionally some great shoots from Tammy Sands and Mark Lit but they are the exception) They have such an amazing brand name and yet they churn out average stuff. It is a shame. There is nothing current or special about anything I have seen from them in the past years. When I worked for Bob Guccione he had a true artistic vision and he had integrity. Now its basically Danni's Hard Drive light.
It's funny because when talent mentions them it is always with a groan "they are so cheap, their directors suck, I hate working for them" etc etc. But when I talk to the Penthouse team directly they seem to think they are the greatest porn company on earth. I think they are really blinded over there. Additionally, they shoot all their video with really flat porn lighting on 3D cameras. It makes no sense. Purely my own opinions. I really like Kelly Holland and some of the other people that have been there for a while. I just think they have lost their way. I would love to see them thrive but after years of false promises for change I don't really see it happening. |
I had a great dinner with him also and I love him for his honest words... that`s all

This could also be said about Playboy these days. Gone are the days when I would look at Playboy .... studying and analyzing the great photography skills of their shooters. I think better than average Photography is a lost art these days as it relates to adult. Quote:

The frustrating thing is I know there is a market for it. In the early days of adult Penthouse established itself as a luxury brand much in the same way Playboy did. As an analogy I would say that Playboy was a Rolls Royce and Penthouse was a Ferrari. After already spending years establishing a brand should Ferrari start selling Miatas in its showroom? Now I know not everyone wants to buy a Ferrari and certainly more people will buy a mazda. But there are already millions of people producing low end content. Why not take an established name and sell upscale? There is so much mediocre shit out there that it has taken on no value. People would pay for something that is truly amazing and beautiful as long as it was marketed properly. And if done right it could be marketed in new ways with some mainstream crossover. As you and I know Dean, there are so many amazing technological advances in filmmaking happening right now. It is a revolutionary time. With 4K, the MOVI, Red Epics, Copters etc. there is so much we can apply to adult and show people new stuff that they have never seen. What is needed is a visionary with money. We need to create the Tesla of porn :2 cents: I am going to go call Elon Musk now :winkwink: |
