New Way to Sell Subscriptions to Your Porn Sites
 

Over the last few years I notice my shopping at brick and mortar stores that items that I would expect to be in the box are not even in the fucking box. I get new NAS drive and there is no software cd or dvd rom and shit even if there was a disc I don't have an optical drive on my ultrabook, netbook, tablet or smartphone. I buy accounting software from office supply store and get home to find simply an access code to log onto their website and download the program. So I'm thinking why not sell website memberships in this same manner? Spend a buck or two on a fancy box with your website logo and video scenes all over it and create access codes for 1 month, 3 month, 6 month membership that are included inside the box. Work with distributor to fill the shelves of porn shops and adult novelty stores across the country. When the customer gets home they can login and provide their cc info for a discounted 2nd month and BAM you've got a new member signup. Is this already being done? Does it sound absurd?

There would need to be a 3rd party handing distribution, printing and activation. Would need someone with a bit of money to back it.

Ummm for the site it would mean an additional channel for sales. For the customer? IDK maybe promotions that are only available via box sale?

That is an advantage yes, however we offer that already (iDeal, Sofort, etc)

It could also attract customers who may not have bought a membership before - complete anonymity.

NO, few years ago people tried doing scratch cards which you coudl buy in stores and it gave you a unique code which you could login with on the websites (along those lines). Don't think that ever took off.

I understand that has worked well to the extent that cam companies have been able to do it and I think it would, with the right marketing push, be good across the board.

Some people may feel a little safer using their credit cards in a brick and mortar store as opposed to taking a risk online or taking a risk on being charged an extra 100.00 to cross sales. Or maybe a way to keep their spouses from seeing a charge on the card statement. Or maybe even because they don't want the rebill hassle...

Maybe not just a "box" with a code would work either. Maybe a magazine type thing with promo pictures of the models on the site and a promo code sealed inside?

Are you referring to Hot Movies scratch off cards with free minutes?

there have been several attempts to do something similar, usually with a card with a promo code. None of them appear to have done well. I can see it possibly garnering some sales from the few old souls who still buy dvd's from shop.
