2) now QWEBEC Expo . Started as Designer as 3XWebDesign and affiliate. Also ran a little pgm back in the day called Fleshnetcash (1999)
3) Started in 1996

4) From my Ambush Interview in 2006 :

""
Q 20. How did you start in online adult?

In January 1996, while I was still working for Bell, they brought me to Las Vegas to attend the CES (Consumer Electronic Show) we were invited by both Nokia and Motorola. So we got there visiting mainly the Mobile Pavillon were all the companies were showing there new upcoming stuff. There was also some other were there was Home Theater, Car Audio, shit like that... On the second day, one of the guy brought us to the Sahara Hotel were they were having a WAY smaller version of the AVN show we know today. I remember that I got astounded to meet Paula Price in Flesh and Legs, Ginger Lynn and some other big names Pornstars. The Online Adult wasn't really there at that time, it was early 1996, but, CD-ROMS... Adult CD Roms I mean... So I got few business cards and the next day, Fuck the Cellphones, batteries and leather cases... I got back to the Sahara Hotel

They were giving away some Samples of Actual brand-new-in-the-box Adult CD-ROMs, Glowing Icon among others were having very good ones. So back here I contacted them and I started to sell some Adult CD Roms thru the classified. I sold some, but I wanted to move that a bit further, then I did a small webpage showing the titles and some images.

Along the way I was already doing websites for mainstream clients here.. One day trhu the CD-Rom Website, a LA lawyers firm specialized in the Adult contacted me to redo their website.

Flash was just coming out and it was the big craze at that time, they wanted their site redid in Flash,so I did it... Couple of weeks later, some other companies which were clients of these guys started to contact me to redo their website, then another and so on... I was now started in Porn Business... Small time but started at least... hehe

From that time, I also started to send traffic to some Cash program.. I remember X-Pics which was paying 0.08$ a Click, then 10, 12, 18 and finally 25 cents until Visa pulled the plug, then they have to shut down the program. Spam was easy in these years and Newsgroups were bringing some good traffic. it was the Far-West if I can say... Haa the good Ol' Days

I got my Big break when a night in 2000, I got a call from a guy called Carl Wachter, he told me that he was working as Staff Photographer for Penthouse Magazine and he wanted me to redo his site, "Little Ole Me?..Yeah Right" I thought.... Since then, Carl is one on my best friends and one of the man for which I have the greatest respect in the industry, he introduced and referred me to lots of Penthouse people and Pets for their website. Maybe that's why my heart always have been with Penthouse, Indirectly I got my big break from them. I was more than happy to see their Big Booth at this year AVN, seeing the company back were it belongs, At the Top. I can see only good thing for them in the upcoming years...

I can see the party now... everyone sitting down a'spell... wearing bifocals... complaining that the music is too loud... complaining the print in the flyer is too small... starting every sentence with "Back in my day"... asking everyone what the "Tweeter Machine" is all about... wondering where all the BUSH is... measuring the sizes of their canes.. "Eh?" "What?" "Huh" "Come again" "Nurse!!"

Wizzo 05-01-2014 01:20 PM

Jimmy aka Wizzo, JuicyAds-Global Publisher Strategist and started in 1997.

I started as just regular TGP webmaster, then went to work for Lensman and we built from Amateurpages into Adult.com and other things like GFY(check the 1st post)... :winkwink:

I then went to Porncity and we built Stiffycash, Mayorsmoney, and few other projects. Over the years, I've had many other successful sites and programs. I got a Camel Toe tattoo at the Redneck Getaways which I was big part of creating as alternative to the average adult show. Today I chose to work for JuicyAds because I can use my experience in many areas of adult to help our clients and I can be proud of the team I'm a part of and look forward to many more years in this industry! Stay Juicy! :pimp

MichaelP 05-03-2014 02:56 PM

... and how that's evolved into what you are doing now.?

...

''
In July 2003, right after Faye announced that they were not coming back to Montreal but going to San Diego, I had that crazy idea to start our own home based industry show.

We wanted to do something different, since Quebec city was the Prime Canadian Touristic Destination at that time, doing QWEBEC Expo in Quebec City was making lots of sense, that were came the name, Quebec but with the word "WEB" in it... We have nothing but good raves about our first edition, but some friends like SleazyDreams, Julius and some others, suggested then to move the Event to Montreal which have a better airlines situation and more Industry Businesses there. So we did move the Event to Montreal for 2005 and are now staying there.... Fortunatelly, Montreal is not in Ontario, se we could kept the name QWEBEC Expo ;)...

GotWebHost - Director of Business Development

(3)the year you started working in the adult industry:
1996

(4)a brief bio of what you were doing when you started in the industry and how that's evolved into what you are doing now:

What a long strange tale it has been. Since the request is a "short bio" I will direct interested parties to the long version (as it was in March 2005) found at https://gfy.com/showthread.php?t=439014 (my ambush interview)

Anyway, in a nutshell, the year was 1996 and I was fucking broke. Like high school broke except and had more money and less bills in high school. One day I got some spam on my AOL account telling me I could make millions selling online porn with a simple $50 investment. My girlfriend lent me the money and I started working with the guy some of you will remember as Mogul. Long story short, within a couple months I was a partner. We later developed such webmaster favorite tools as Site Mogul, the first TGP auto-submitter and Content Lotto the webmaster game that everyone played. As a result, I got to know everyone and frequented every board.

A few days after 9/11 I called for a boycott of some webmasters that had expressed glee that the US had been attacked. While many approved of my idea, there was one little lady that didn't; you may know her as goodgirl. We got into it, she admitted that perhaps I was right and we let bygones be bygones. A few months later she was an affiliate and a little after than she was a customer (buying advertising, lotto games, etc).

In 2003 Mogul started doing things I did not approve of so I left; several companies offered me jobs (Lensman was one), but goodgirl kind of made me an offer I could not refuse and I took her up on it. We have been working together ever since, started dating in 2006 and on New Years Eve I proposed to her and she said yes.

Sorry, that is about as short as I can make it. :)

C H R I S 05-05-2014 01:32 AM

1) C H R I S , formerly AVNCHRIS and a few other nicknames I forget.

2) Director of Sales and Business Development for Trafficshop

3) 1999

2) Started in 1999 at the largest mail order adult company Leisure Time. Ran the catalog division and mail order, media buying, etc. Watched as the industry changed rapidly.

From there I moved to AVN as a sales rep for AVN Online Mag. In 5 years I took over sales for Internext, AVN Online and AVN.com as well as a few other projects. When the recession hit AVN was hurting and shut down the mag and laid off probably 70% of employees, I was lucky and kept my job for awhile longer. When I left AVN it was shock and awe to go from that posoition to unemployment. 9 months later Theo graciously recommended me for a job at Trafficshop which was a challenge at first as I had minimal knowledge of the traffic game - basics.

Five years later still at Trafficshop and loving it. Traffic is the lifeblood of the industry and definitely king alongside billing.

My Ambush Interview from 2007

I've watched this industry thrive and go through many changes in my short 15 years.I've met some wonderful people and had some insanely good times. Here's to 15 more.

Cheers!

Nice promo!

sixpack 05-06-2014 11:38 AM

Name is Tom Wasula
aka- ezarizona

I started in 1998
first in tgp's the into paysites with Topbucks in 2000
I have worked or ran a few companies over the years after that like
pib, pornpayouts, edpowerscash, peepshowcash, profitsdeluxe and now I am starting
a new company in webcams named DesertGoldMedia and I am a partner there.

Poppy 05-06-2014 02:35 PM

1) Paul "Poppy" Gelvezon
2) MeritCard/VP of Sales
3) 1998
4) One score minus four is when I found my way into the world of the adult internet. I had no idea what WebSideStory was or what they sold at a high tech convention in San Diego. Fast forward to the year 2000 and I would be hired by Rainey Stricklin and work alongside a guy named Scott Rabinowitz who was not yet known as "Traffic Dude", selling online advertising.

I would move on and start my own consulting business called Poppy-Enterprises and work with companies like Jupiter Hosting and Spread4U. Jupiter Hosting would become a full-time gig, until that rocket ship was acquired by an evil mainstream hosting company who had no clue about adult and I will not mention their name, so as not to give them any credit...lol.

I then evolved into payments with L3 Payments and have learned the wonderful world of billing and have been in this since 2007. I then parted ways, quickly getting scooped up by Team MojoHost, but payments pulled me back in, as I was offered a wonderful position with MeritCard. I am also helping my good friends Raja and Laurel with Chargeback Help. They prevent consumer disputes from becoming chargebacks.

You can read more about me in my Ambush Interview I was the last interview of 2005.

myjah 05-07-2014 05:48 PM

Bump for one more day to enter!!

SCOOTER 05-08-2014 06:51 AM

Scott ?Scooter? Walley
MojoHost ..VP of Sales
Started 1998/99

Wow, where do I start?
I remember the day I got my very first domain, back then I could have had my pick from some of the top domains used today.
After a week of looking and going over my options, I picked ?Scooterporn.com? (Yes, I kick myself in the ass a lot) Other than the lame brain choice of a name it did pretty good and I make a lot of money. (Who didn?t back then?)

I also did side work at the time for let?s just say ?colorful people? and from that I learned that not everyone was to be trusted.

So I started my own company doing exit consoles for most of the larger paysites at that time. I had control over millions of clicks per day and most of them went to Python with conversions like 1-5. (If not the links where switched ? LOL)
When popup blockers came out and ended the need for that I quickly moved into the Live Cam for the next 7 years and really enjoyed it. (Well not chasing traffic and performers)

I started looking around for my next chapter in the book of ?work? Brad offered me a job. 4 years later, I?m still here at Mojohost and Love it.

RyuLion 05-08-2014 11:44 AM

(4)A brief bio of what you were doing when you started in the industry and how that's evolved into what you are doing now:
Started doing Web Development, as a Employee for San Diego County of Information Sciences in 1998. Then continued with mainstream clients including law firms and real estate websites local to SoCal. Then started working full time for the Adult Industry in 2000, and have continued working in this industry. I now specialize in: Affiliate Management Software, CMS software (Elevated X and MAS), Traffic/RIO analyzing, adult business consulting, and of course increasing Organic Traffic to new and existing Web Sites.
