I heard the whole speech and other than using language like many older people surely isn't any reason to ignore the ridiculous over reach of the federal Government.

If you are asking does Ed Shulz or MSNBC have good ratings...the answer is "no'.
They are in dead last place and Shulz's show isn't even a blip on the radar screen to Hannity's show according to ratings.

Both guys are way over the top on their different spectrums. But by and large, the viewers just don't like left wing elitist types.

They don't come across as true "liberals". They are mean spirited and don't seem to show any of the compassion that real liberal people have.
They just seem to be hell-bent on the govt. being bigger and having total control.

Which doesn't sit well with most people. Thus the ratings difference.

And that's the real reason that Ed Shulz is attacking Hannity and challenging him to a "debate". He wants a ratings "rub".

When the "news" on MSNBC is now about one failed commentator (Shulz) attacking a successful one (Hannity), then it's no wonder that people don't watch MSNBC.

Old people watch more TV, this proves Hannity speaks the truth.

I'm kinda wondering if that's true. My mom is 69, she won't even allow a television in her home.
Most of the older people I know are the same way. They just don't watch it very much.

And of course kids these days hardly watch television at all. They are too busy on their smart phones.

The rest of us I think mostly just watch stuff like the shows on Pay Channels like "Game Of Thrones".

I can hardly stand to watch the "news" anymore.

Especially when something actually HAPPENS. lol

They will run the "story" into the ground until you just don't give a damn about it anymore.

While it is no scientific data, I can say that my mom lives in a retirement center and watching TV is the only thing most of the residence do. The place has a ton of activities, but only about 20% of the people there actually go to any of them. The rest sit in their rooms all day and watch the tube.

My mom used to do nothing but watch TV from the minute she woke up until she went to bed. Her moving their actually fixed that because she got into the other stuff and made friends so now she hardly watches anything, but there are a ton of people there that do nothing else.

Yeah, I didn't take into account people in retirement homes. I guess I was thinking more of active older folks. :)

Fuck, I hope when I get older I'm not stuck in a "home" with one big television that's turned on to Fox News or MSNBC all day. :(

Best I can tell from the ratings...Mark Prince watches it and Ed Shulz watches it on DVR when he gets home...other than that, I'm not sure ANYBODY watches it. :1orglaugh

People on the Left on average are not very extreme and are not interested in having a far left news source spoon feeding them. However on the Right, the extreme views are much more common and they like being spoon fed extreme views.

I hadn't watched actual TV news in quite a while, recently was stuck in a crowded airport gate right next to a TV blaring CNN. It was amazing - beyond beyond stupid. I wasn't even mad, more just impressed at the banal fucking idiocy. It wasn't this bad even 5 years ago. Got me hoping that the news channels have just lost their way, and that there's not a target audience who actually enjoys and believes that crap because those people should be discouraged from reproducing.

I'm all for really reaching to get positive's from a bad situation, but,

You can disagree all you want but by in far the left is far less extreme than the right. Yea sure there are some far left people but they don't rule as the majority with in the Democratic as they do with the right in the Republican party.

i would suggest not reading a lot into ratings differences between fox & msnbc. Fact is, fox gets the big numbers because they are a monopoly on right wing spin.

In contrast, the left leaning viewer not only has half dozen network channels, plus BBC, public radio, they have sitcoms, cartoons, comedians, & even friggin sports channels towing the political correctness garbage barge.

Plus, Shultz's audience is at the bar, or on thefacebook, or at the mall, or getting laid. While the not-as-young viewers are tuning into hannity.

I myself find fox both refreshing, when they blast unions, & pathetic, when they make up some war on christmas. I also like that their female journalists are chesty. This is a refreshing deviation from the 80 pound boy bodies in vogue with madison ave.

Luckily, where my mom lives the all have their own apartments with cable TV, internet if they want it etc. They also have a big screen where they have movie nights. Of course that doesn't mean that half the TVs in the place aren't tuned to Matlock and Perry Mason at the same time every day lol.

I would tend to agree. Ed Shultz puts too much, I'll call it "passion" into his reports. I PVR his show but when I get around to watching him I usually skip through alot of it.

I watch MSNBC. Hannity's "success" is lying constantly, making huge mistakes, and never ever apologizing for them. Sean Hannity is shit.

The hippest, youngest audience isn't watching anyone Fox or CNN or MSNBC... they're watching The Daily Show with John Stewart, and The Colbert Report.

My guess would be that most adult people who even care about the news are probably sort of like me. (and believe me, most young people in their 20's don't watch the news EVER)

I watch a couple of times a day for a few minutes during the actual "news hour" times of cable news, I try to catch the local news in the late afternoon for a couple of minutes.

And if it's 3 in the morning and I just finished up work and can't sleep...I'll turn it on in bed and fall asleep.

Other than that...I just can't imagine that the majority of people in this world really care about Shulz or Hannity or any "news talk show" like that...or even know they exist.

It does give us all something to laugh about and/or be "outraged" about here on GFY. lol
