Terrible season for me. Its so tight at the top tho, anyone can take this.

Scott McD 04-23-2014 08:37 AM

Quite incredible actually that we have 2 people on exact same points at the top of the table with only 3 games remaining.

I'll be watching this one closely to see who comes out the winner! :)

Especially since my team has been shit all season long. I made the mistake of going with Man U players from the start, and taking far too long to change it. So i was down the bottom end of the table and had to try fight my way back up from there. Which obviously didn't work out too well either.

Ah well, there's always next season !! :winkwink:

To be perfectly honest a couple of weeks ago I thought I had it in the bag.

At the start of January I was 144 points behind Ashley and then I had an amazing run of form and by mid March I was 60 points ahead of him!

Two weeks of Mata & Eriksen going on a scoring spree and it's even Stevens again!

This is going to the wire! :)

TBH that's the one piece of advice I'd give everyone for next season, change your team on Gameweek 2.

The team you pick and spend ages mulling over for the start of the season will be wrong, everyone get's it wrong but take the minus points and change your team around at the beginning of the season.

Ashley used his Wildcard in Gameweek 2 and he stayed well in the lead until February, I made 6 transfers in Gameweek 2 that cost me -20 points but it was worth it because I had the basis of a decent team for the rest of the season.

Next season I will play. Van Gaal for the win!

I was on top of my team all season until Aguero got injured, I kept trying to replace him with a top goalscorer but every player I put in, hit a dry run of form. Cost myself about 30 points switching it up and eventually took Sturridge again but by then he had scored 8 goals and started to dry up a little as well.

Just putting it on record now, if Paul wants to organize this again next year, Traffic Force is happy to throw in some prizes again, this is a lot of fun.

I want in next season!!!

I hear ya! I think Man City would be top of the league atm if Aguero had of stayed fit, he's world class and they've missed him.

There is no doubt luck plays a large part in it as well. For the past few weeks I've been dealing with an injury crisis, there is no strategy to prevent that!

Yaya Touré, Silva, Hazard - Most of my midfield got injured!

Fantasy Football certainly makes the football season more interesting! It's been good craic :)

Every year I will organize this. More than happy too! Thank you for Ross for sponsoring. It has been a blast and fun to chat about at shows with people in the league. :thumbsup

That's what I should have done early one and I hung onto the team like a moron.
Love the league it's a lot of Fun every year, thanks Poppy for putting it together and TrafficForce for sponsoring it.

ps: Suarez or Aguero for the last 3 games? (Well... Aguero gets an extra game...)

If I had to choose I'd go with Suarez because he scores 9.5 points per game Vs 7.4 with Aguero. Plus Man City aren't great away from home and Crystal Palace & Everton away is about as hard as it gets for their next 2 games.

I agree :thumbsup Thanks Poppy & TrafficForce, it's been good fun!

It is our absolute pleasure guys, everyone who knows me, knows I'm a HUGE soccer fan and having this little element of competition makes watching all the games even more interesting.

Good luck to Paul and Ashley for the rest of the season and here's to next season.

Paul 05-11-2014 01:37 AM

Good luck today Ashley! I've enjoyed our battle over the top spot during the last couple of months.

It's amazing that we're into the final game of the season and there is only 29 points between us!

Looks like it's Man City's title to lose :disgust

Even though I'm a United fan I was hoping Liverpool would win it, I think they've deserved it this season. That's the great thing about football, anything can happen!

Who would have thought a few weeks ago Sunderland could escape relegation!

Same here Paul been great being so close having something to fight for so late in the season! I will be the first to congratulate you on your victory :thumbsup I was chasing your for too many weeks after losing my 100+ point gap started taking hits and looking for differentials with non of them paying off lol

City take the title as expected after Pools collapse leaving them in 2nd place. Chelsea 3rd with Arsenal 4th in the last CL spot. As a gunner am looking forward to the FA cup next week.

Thanks to Poppy for setting this up again this year also big thanks to Ross and the Traffic Force team for the generous sponsorship for the prizes!

World Cup fantasy football will also be fun i like you use the official McDonalds one on the fifa site. Once its open we can setup a league if anyones interested.

I've been playing Fantasy Football since the 2009/10 season, you are by far the most challenging opponent I've come up against!

I've enjoyed this year the most because of the competition between ourselves!

I really respected that -12 pointer week in Gameweek 36 where you made the changes, I did not see that coming and it worked for you.

I think the 4 transfers in Gameweek 37 cost you in the end because they didn't work out that week.

Quite frankly in the last 3 Gameweeks it was pot luck that won it, it could have easily gone your way instead of mine.

It was great fun though and I look forward to next season :thumbsup

I'll be watching! It would be nice if Arsenal finally won a trophy, I'm not sure where it leaves Wenger if Arsenal don't win the FA Cup.

Good luck next Saturday!
