Reddit downgrades technology community after censorship

Only allowed in the default while you're being censored it would seem :2 cents:

Social news site Reddit has downgraded the status of its "technology" section after a censorship row.

The category is no longer a "default subreddit", meaning it stops being one of two dozen communities promoted to new account holders.

It follows a report by the Daily Dot that revealed headlines posted to the area had been secretly deleted if they featured certain words.

The subreddit's own moderators now acknowledge that this was a "disaster".

What were these "certain words"?

Were the words similar to "cool bomb making guide"?

A lot of people don't know it but Reddit is owned by the same people who also own an ISP (the ISP I use) Bright House Networks. I believe the parent company is called Newhouse Media. You can verify it on Wikipedia.

Seems as though the feds have Reddit in their back pocket. Not surprised. They did assassinate one of the founders.

These kind of citizen controlled news sites are a huge threat to the agendas of elected officials.

I figured they owned imgur too. Guess I was wrong. There doesn't seem to be any connection between Reddit and Imgur. Guess it cause imgur is a nice and safe image hosting service.

Everything about that site tells me it will be heavily censored and moderated.

That's why I don't use it.

IMGUR was built for reddit, caters to reddit and works very hard to be reddits official image host.

no connection? how about 90% of image posts on reddit are from imgur.

no connection though, just a coincidence, and there's really no other image hosting site at all.

BIGTYMER 04-21-2014 06:52 PM
