An idea (That the gaming industry uses)
Hey everyone,
Full of ideas today, I thought I would share this one. Not sure if it would be good or not, but here it is. Problem - I don't think porn viewers know what they are missing out on by only watching free tube sites. Idea - A free membership day of the year? In gaming, I see it all the time. On steam you will see a game free for the weekend, usually a multiplayer game, something that people will want to come back for after the free is up. On xbox live you will see free multiplayer for a weekend, so that users who don't pay for subscription can essentially use it free and see what they are missing. Most likely leads to more sales of subscriptions after, etc etc. These are also given huge promo to let everyone know about them. What if a porn site had a free membership day? Restrictive obviously in some way, but it would give the users a good look at what they are missing out on, from the perspective of what a paying member would see. Maybe more sales? I don't know. What do you think? Could this work in adult like it does in gaming? I just had this idea and thought I would post it. Any good? |
a free trial. sounds dope.

I love the idea. Steam hooked me on so many games this way. It's like saying "Hey, try this crack for free. Oh... you want more? Gotta pay for some."
|
If the product is good, that's a tested model for almost any business.
|
This could work only on paysites with streaming since people would run downloaders immediately and then never come back.
|
using a gaming model as the basis is flawed...the idea behind the gaming model is to get you to invest your time into building and growing a character.
In porn as soon as the customer cums he is gone.... |
Yeah, We should also do early-access.
Films scenes, stop after a blowjob, ask people to signup so we can film the rest, than never deliver. |
"freebie" buyers have the lowest customer loyalty. |

I suggest this read: Motivational Design Patterns - with game and social examples: http://users.soe.ucsc.edu/~ejw/disse...ssertation.pdf The guy in this thesis doc, looks for patterns that fit into the "As a user", I want "something" so that "X desire is met" - in games etc. He identifies "Gameful patterns": score, leaderboard, increased responsibility, collection (badge), growth. The "Social patterns": contact list, identifiable community (meta-area), broadcast (social feedback), activity stream, identity shaping, item sharing. If you give temporary access to a service with the above patterns, the guy can be hooked to grow and continue this. Any of this in a tube or pay member site? I think no?... in a cam site, you obviously have identity shaping (in chat you say I am this and that blah blah), have to flirt girls and get score by have girls friend you (contacts) and recognise you and greet you next time you enter their room (social feedback), collect their messages and private info/story they may disclose in pieces, also compete with other users to be the girl's boyfriend. Also item sharing when you tip them (or with group, more people controbute to reach goal so the girl starts show). |
