Pretty cool. A big step up from my 808 taped to the drone. :1orglaugh

I love my Phantom. This is awesome.

fucking awesome toy

Rumbledog 04-20-2014 09:25 AM

Great toy!

Pretty nifty except for one thing....The GoPro cameras have a slight delay when used for FPV. This is why almost every FPV system out there uses a separate camera along with the option to mount a GoPro. If this package had a dedicated FPV camera, I'd consider buying it. Without that, not a chance. :2 cents:

Great point Aaron. Had one on a shoot at a large factory couple weeks ago. Was hit or miss on getting the shots the director had in mind.

I love these quad and octo copters but I am not a fan at all of using a gopro for professional work. I do really like the bigger ones that can carry a 5D and have brush-less gimbals but damn that gets expensive.

I'm totally digging what extreme facilities shot for top gear's africa special. they used a DJI S800 drone and a Panasonic GH2

Sorry, no youtube/imbed

Check out this Jules Jordan trailer where he uses shots from one of these things to add to his scenes. Very impressive shots very high end outcome.

Just upgraded from the Phantom to the Phantom 2 Vision. Which has the camera mounted on it.

What's a nice FPV system for these units?

His Infernal Majesty 04-30-2014 06:08 PM

I want! :thumbsup

With the Vision camera and the DJI Vision app, there's less than .1 second latency. How does that compare to maybe a Fatshark system?

This one probably won't last long. I will use it for a few more jobs and move on to something bigger.

candyflip 05-01-2014 06:37 PM

I've been flying one of these around for almost a year now. Take the new one out for the first time today and on the second battery, I slammed it hard into a tree and it fell into the street from about 25 feet.

The cable that connects the camera to the copter broke and I have to order another from China for $8. I'm also glad I have a bunch of propellers on hand. Chipped a few of those too.

I put everything back together and it flew like it should. I had heard that these were durable little machines, I wasn't aware of how durable until today.

Thumbs up to DJI.

Suddenly my AR Parrot quad is hopelessly inadequate.

Time for a new investment.

Snow-covered mountain peak...sold separate?

This one I bought the other day the guy paid $1200 for three weeks ago, did two jobs with it and sold it for $650 on Craiglist. I had to drive to Buffalo to get it, but to save almost $600 that is well worth it.

There's another here on CL in Rochester going for $800.

You could probably get half the funds selling the Parrot AR. :winkwink:

Perhaps I'm not able to think outside the box enough with this - but what's the practical application of this in the real world?

I can't imagine a client comin' through my door needing something photographed at 1/1,000,000,000,000th of a second.

Aidoru 05-01-2014 08:09 PM

I need this for Christmas
