Hostgator Beg for Forgiveness - Free Month of Hosting Credit

Fair play :2 cents:

"On April 16th there was a service outage for a portion of our customers. We sincerely apologize for any issues you may have experienced. We understand the tremendous amount of trust you put in us, and the effect our service has on your business.

The service disruption was caused by a complex and undocumented firmware bug present in multiple networking devices. Immediately after the issue was identified, HostGator?s staff began working directly with the data center?s network engineers and the hardware vendor to restore service.

We can assure you that no confidential information was compromised. Your credit card, passwords, website, customer data, and private information remain safe.

We take your business seriously, and our goal is to maintain the best service possible. Clearly, we fell short of that. We will be working to prevent another situation like this from happening in the future.

As a thank you for your patience and understanding, we want to offer you a free month of hosting. If you have yet to receive this hosting credit, you can reach us Monday - Saturday between 9am and 6pm
Central Standard Time at 877-250-3932. Please contact us by April 25th to receive your credit.

Please contact us with questions at any time. We value you as a customer, and hope to continue to serve your needs for many more years."

Nothing new. I get free month of hosting anytime my hg server goes down, which has been quite a bit since they moved to Provo. You just gotta ask for it.

suesheboy 04-18-2014 04:06 PM

I would love to see Webair do that.

seeandsee 04-18-2014 04:41 PM

Nice move if you ask me

Can you direct me to the hostgator page where it says this? I've already asked for a credit but they are still to answer...

HG goes offline like once every month. I made my move to hostwinds and never been disappointed since.

I'm making a move for the better, in progress.

Upgraded to the VPS with the best customer support (tested before signing up), and asked them to do a few things for me server side once I was up and running (5 minutes in).

So far tickets are 20 minutes response for medium tasks.

I will share who it is once I've actually used them for a period of time.

I like the fact that I'll be one of few on a single box without paying the price of a dedicated.

It was received via email, they are so busy they haven't put mine through yet either, but they said they will :2 cents:

I have experience with them the support is awesome!

HomerSimpson 04-19-2014 11:33 AM

Since they were bought by AIG and since they moved to their own DC I notice more and more problems with their services...

fpcgary 04-19-2014 11:52 AM

I like their support. Have noticed downtime about once a month, never for long, wouldnt even notice without Jetpack, but this last one a few days ago was brutal. Still, 99% of the time they are providing us with solid service over here and I appreciate the way they handled this situation.
