US Justice Department: Albuquerque police use "excessive force"

It appears that after anally raping at least two people because they "walked funny" and shooting 37 people killing 25 I believe. The US Justice Dept's investigation has come to the conclusion that APD use excessive force.

http://www.cbsnews.com/news/doj-albu...cessive-force/

some highlights..

Quote:

A release issued by the DOJ Thursday said the investigation found three patterns of excessive force used by APD officers.
  • APD officers too frequently use deadly force against people who pose a minimal threat, and in situations where the conduct of the officers heightens the danger and contributes to the need to use force.
  • APD officers use less lethal force, including electronic controlled weapons, on people who are passively resisting, non-threatening, observably unable to comply with orders or pose only a minimal threat to the officers.
  • Encounters between APD officers and persons with mental illness and in crisis too frequently result in a use of force or a higher level of force than necessary.

The investigation also found the police department had systemic deficiencies, including: deficient policies, failed accountability systems, inadequate training, inadequate supervision, ineffective systems of investigation and adjudication, the absence of community policing, and a lack of sufficient civilian oversight.

apparently the MO is to 'recommend changes', and then the next few years will be spent on covering up how none of the recommendations have been adopted

once asked why not, the response will be, 'we need more money'

rinse, repeat

Albuquerque cops will probably be sentenced to anger management courses or some other useless bullshit.

Give the worst offending cops work release and keep them in the county jail general population. They can fight or fuck every night for 12 months :)

Worst nightmare scenario ...

If any of us did half the shit that cops do to people...we would be in the electric chair.

I doubt it. They are all protected by very strong unions/brotherhoods. It's a shame.

No, that's the penalty for murder in a lot of states.

Here in Vegas the cops are setting records for shooting and killing unarmed people because they felt "threatened".

Of course the govt. here has decided that there is no need to have the Justice Dept. investigate it.

A lot of covering ass going on. :(

just think if they're that keen on shooting people how much they love to dole out a good tazzerin to people there.

Yea know I've often wondered if it could be something as simple as a uniform.. I'd love to see an experiment, where one group of cops had to dress like Barney Fife and the other group dressed like the current trend of para military style uniforms. I bet you anything cops dressing in old school uniforms would act more respectful and would receive a better response from the public.

I think you are right. Police officers didn't used to act this way.

Of course...the Supreme Court gave them a lot of new powers over the last couple of decades to help fight the "War Against U.S. Citizens"...oops, I mean "The War On Drugs".

I remember when they could NOT search you, could NOT search your car, could NOT open a woman's purse, etc.
That was in the 1980's.

These days? They are searching people to go to a concert!

And people just seem to accept it.
I guess now we are "safe". :(
