Raise Your Hand If You Got Into The Industry AFTER 2010!

Lots of threads identify old timers. At the moment I'm more interested to know who the new people are with fresh ideas.

Anyone here start after 2010 and making solid progress?

CurrentlySober 04-10-2014 04:08 AM

Good thread idea, TBH... :thumbsup

lucas131 04-10-2014 04:09 AM

lol, this will be empty one ... hands cutted off! :1orglaugh

Relentless 04-10-2014 04:11 AM

I know a few very successful newer people. Not sure if they are on GFY.
Would be great to meet more.

Now this would be interesting! I'm 2007 myself, then full time after 2010 (can't remember exactly)

Relentless 04-10-2014 03:20 PM

It says a lot about the industry that so few have entered in the last five years....

_Richard_ 04-10-2014 03:24 PM

Let's set the bar low....earn more than $500.00 per month in ANY capacity in the adult industry.
Sales, design, text, content.... Anything.

A thread is hardly a litmus.

Agreed. It's an indicator of who is here on GFY, not of who is in the industry.

well i think there's def still money to be made in affiliate marketing alone. i'd rather not give out exact stats, but i've only been doing this since september and pull 3-4x that from single sponsors alone :P

Me :) well technically started in adult in 2008 but didn't join gfy until 2010, blogging is still successful for me but adult is more like a hobby for me so all the money I make from sales I usually put aside for a rainy day.

I do adult blogging instead of mainstream because mainstream bores the crap out of me...I would much rather look at porn!

rastan 04-11-2014 02:06 AM

Hey Stew, yeah, we're 2010-2011 so qualify I guess!

Nice_Nick 04-11-2014 02:28 AM

I have started back in adult after a break of several years in late 2012. I am doing ok.

I'm not new new though.

Lars_Cash 04-11-2014 03:05 AM

Yup, you were one of the good ones I had in mind when I made the thread.
Working hard and doing things the right way from the start.

There is money to be made no matter when you started if you focus on making money instead of the distractions

30SalesPlus 04-11-2014 07:35 AM

I was completely out of adult from 2010-2013 and now back because its much more fun then mainstream. Does that count?

ITraffic 04-11-2014 07:39 AM

many new traditional paysite affiliates? no. those monetizing "free" content with cams, dating and ad networks? plenty.

DumpManager 04-11-2014 08:27 AM

I started in 2012. Was unemployed and on employment insurance.

Started fucking around online and more or less fell ass backwards into the biz, lol.

I haven't broken any banks, but I think I am successful enough.

Fuck do I ever wish I got into it 10 years earlier though.

Some people gets fresh ideas because they adapt fast, get fresh ideas often across whole life, when old timer and old age too.
Other people gets no fresh ideas ever, either when new or old timer, young or old age.

Free cams is no more a fresh idea, it was in 2010, max 2011 (when chaturbate etc's it was launched).

About fresh ideas: these are copied at lightspeed anyway, so what's the value for who had the idea? Fresh idea's are worth nothing for the inventor, if everyone else can implement the same (as soon as inventor released his thing), with bigger investment (or "traffic", for our biz).

This is valid for every fresh idea you can't make exclusive to you with patents, licenses or other barriers to entry: big guys keep an eye on fresh idea (smaller) guys's work - big guys understand it may be the next thing - but will wait last minute before to release the own copy of fresh idea. Why? Because big guy make $$ with the old idea! So launching the new idea too soon (with own big advertising base) may self-cannibalize too soon the own old (but still core) business.
So, while the fresh idea guy thinks no one is really copying him yet, really big guys prepared the new idea's clone, just wait the new idea's inventor's business to become enough big to be dangerous or recognised as a brand, and at that moment only, the big guys launch own copy version - with big fanfare & ads. Result: most people will think the old guys really are the inventors (lots of people think cell phones was invented by Apple rather than by Motorola, same for Facebook<-MySpace or Google<-Altavista). Same will do other big guys. So own inventor's thing will be 2nd , 3rd, 4th and even out of business - most people will think the big guys invented the idea, and anyway give their money to big guys.

Never understimate the oldtimers.

I said who are the new people with fresh ideas... not who are the only people with fresh ideas. I already know who the people are that started before 2010... I'd like to know if I missed any of the newer people.

Ok sorry, the sentence it looked a bit different.
Given the replies got in the thread, it looks like lots of the new nicks are from old guys who lost old password, plus fakenicks of banned guys :)

Streamline your join page. Remove the clutter and your ratios will improve.
Anything on a join page should be there for a specific reason.
