Remembering passwords.

Say you had to think on the spot what your password is for a certain site you use. Whether it's adult, paypal, ebay, anything. And you have so many different ones you use you can't think.

Yet as soon as you click onto that site, at the box you enter your pass, it comes to you instantly.

I've been noticing myself doing this more and more lately. It's like your brain recognises the site page, so gives you the password for it. Yet a moment before you had clicked, it was gone completely. :arcadefre

I'm like that with people's names.

As long as that person is in the environment (work/school) I know them from...I can come up with their name right away. But take that person out-of-context - and I often can't think of their name.

iSpyCams 04-03-2014 10:31 AM

install lastpass and never worry about it again

CurrentlySober 04-03-2014 10:32 AM

i just use 123456 for all my logins. easy to remember....

wehateporn 04-03-2014 10:43 AM

I don't know how on Earth I do it, one day I'll forget them all...Actually, it's only my fingers that know them, I don't remember most of my passwords, but my fingers remember the movements required to type them

I'm shit with names in general. Whether they are present in the room or not. It's just blank for me sometimes.

Try KeepassX, much better than lastPass, and keep a backup every other day on a microSD card.

kittykatt 04-03-2014 10:56 AM

I know its not the safest thing but I just have everything remembered on my browser so its always filled in and I just have to click login :thumbsup

Yeap, I've got a password that's about 40 characters long but easy to remember and all site passwords are unique that are stored in my vault. DONE.

I've been using RoboForm for more than a decade. I've tried some of the others, including the various browser add-ons, but none of them compare to RoboForm (my opinion). Well worth the money, as are their other products.

Yep, good point :thumbsup

That's it. This was the post where we have to admit we are all now old and the conversations have moved from earning beer money to posts about our memories starting to go.

Rochard 04-03-2014 11:43 AM

I was notorious for using the same password for everything and eventually a handful of people figured it out.... I'm not telling anyone what my "system" for passwords is, but I have a different password for everything.

PalazioMensClub 04-03-2014 09:58 PM

polipie 04-04-2014 01:35 AM

I use 1Password. Multiple vaults, fully encrypted and backup on dropbox.

EvaCash 04-04-2014 01:48 AM

I use an old fashioned Rolodex to file my passwords alphabetically.

NatalieMojoHost 04-04-2014 01:54 AM

1Password rocks

Klen 04-04-2014 02:02 AM

I remember most of my passwords,it is not that hard once you train it enough.

I do the same shit :thumbsup

I don't know any of my passwords for anything. I create a new password for everything using strongpasswordgenerator.com then save it in the browser and keep it movin with my life. If I end up deleting browser data or using a new device or something I just click "forgot password" and make a new one.

Works for me...

iSpyCams 04-04-2014 05:09 AM

You guys are all such idiots, I use post it notes stuck to the monitor, really sensitive passwords are on a sheet of paper under the keyboard (no one ever looks there)

protip: after a few years the sticky on post it notes gets kind of weak so use scotch tape to re-stick it.

Also, 123456 is pretty easy to guess so I use 654321 for extra security.

rufriter32 04-05-2014 07:20 AM

I use KeePass, open source and lot's of plugins. I sync passwords to my server so smartphone, desktop, etc are all up to date. Must have hundreds of passwords in the database. All this password shit has to change. Whoever solves the problem is going to make some serious dough!!

With Roboform, your passwords are encrypted on your own computer (and you have the option to sync via their cloud to all of your computers, devices, smartphone, etc. if you choose to use their sync function, but it is not required). Also, your passwords database can be protected by a Master Password.

For example, when I put my computer into sleep mode, or close out the browser, the next time I go to a site that has my logins stored, I can NOT click the login now link on the roboform toolbar unless I enter my master password. You have to do this once per session. So, rogue employees are nullified so long as you don't give them your Master Password and you close out your browser session when you leave your desk, OR, place your computer into sleep mode while you are away.

It really is great software and, in my opinion, in a class by itself compared to the others out there.

Cleo 04-06-2014 06:06 AM

Just use this and always have your passwords with you no matter what device you are on.

anexsia 04-06-2014 06:27 AM

I use KeePass 2 to manage all my passwords and keep backups of the master password database...I highly recommend the program to EVERYONE and I find it much better then Lastpass (I don't trust them handling my passwords especially since they already had one fuckup).

iwantchixx 04-06-2014 11:20 AM

Between constant changes and security audits, even keeping a text file of passwords has outgrown it's usefulness. Soon to install lastpass myself..
