Business cards - do you care about your cards' quality?

Mine is being printed on regular/usual paper. I am thinking of upping up the quality and go with something that would stand out. Fishing for ideas. Nothing outrageous, just something nicer than regular paper.

You need business cards so that you can email them to clients or something?
I mean, you don't actually hand cards out to people in the street do you?

Manfap 03-27-2014 10:16 AM

depends how many you hand out. if you hand out 1000's quality paper gets expensive.

sandman! 03-27-2014 10:18 AM

i got some 2 sided cards that are pretty nice here.

Cards are usually handed during first meeting or when you get introduced to someone.

Indeed. I do not give them out in bulk, so I can pay extra, although nothing extravagant. Double the usual price would be ok.
I saw very interesting concepts, but they cost 5 times extra, not looking for that expensive.

At 10x the cost I would present those cards only to VIP's (Ceo's, presidents etc :1orglaugh )

I don't give a crap about quality of a card. I get the name and phone number from the card and then toss it.

Be professional, a card is a reflection of you. Why carry cheap shit around hoping to give it to someone you want to impress, get work from or sell to. How much sense does that make?

Don't go overboard but don't be a putz either.

This is my point. I would not feel comfortable giving out a card that is made out of the cheapest and most common paper (meaning it looks like a card from any other average chump). I like it to be a little bit nicer, small details count in the long run :)

goodgirl recently made me some temporary biz cards for my craft beer stuff. Done of business card paper purchased at the store. People looked at it like it was trash compared to having the same thing done on nice paper

+1 :thumbsup

Not like your gonna give the same guy a new card every week so worth the extra expense to impress especially if at an event where he ends up with 25-100 cards in his hand, make yours stand out from the others. :2 cents:

Personal opinion ?.. Don't be gimmicky, don't be trendy, don't try and stand out.

Seriously, how much business has anyone done with someone only because they used a heavier paper?

Keep it classy, but no need to go overboard.

HerPimp 04-01-2014 03:36 AM

Hell Yes, blow the money on a nice card if your doing business to business service.

suesheboy 04-01-2014 03:42 AM

I make sure to use very heavy stock, full color (or 3 spot) on one side and uncoated on the other and in a glance should be very clear what you do.

What every you do do not make a business card that hurts or can not be written on (at least one side).

My most expensive cards (hot stamped gold foil and 2 sided plastic 4 color) were not the most effective.
