I'm not sure about this. I mean I know that they have recieved the info from a British company that have somehow used single pings and comparing it against other air traffic to determine it's location which just so happens to be in the deepest part of the ocean.

The intel seems a bit lame to tell relatives that all on board are dead and this is the planes final location.

Seems like it's a easy fix to me.
