I have a friend who lives in Crimea. He gives the impression that what the Russians claim is partially true - people in Crimea are treated horrible by Ukranians and that they are afraid of them. He also tells me that they want to be part of Russia.

I have other friends who are Ukranian, in a city called Donetsk. He tells me Crimea is just another area of Ukraine, with a bit more independence than other districts, with no serious issues of anger or violence.

Both sides seem to feel strongly.

I thought you would say "in the wild".

I have friends who live there. Russian speaking and always called him and his family Russian even though he was born in the time it was Ukraine. They are all for it. The funny thing is it is a bit like a family from the states in that they have lived in other parts of the USSR so it is super messy to think of them as only Ukranians.

I have friends form there too. They support Russian annexation. Tired of the mess that's going on in Kiev and don't want to be part of this "barbaric idiot-ism". Opinions differ. I guess the question is - what the majority wants, but with these particular "referendums" we'll never find out. Reminded me of the one 23 years ago when 97% of the people voted for Ukraine separating from USSR... riiiiight. I bet if they did a referendum over "do yo want world peace?" in any country it wouldn't be 97%.

they all want to live in Russia, end

Traitors.

They chose Yanukovich who, along with Putin, robbed the country. Infantile people.

The could have moved long ago, but they didn't. They chose Russia to come get them. Infantile people who need a hard hand.

you couldn't get 97% of people to agree that it gets dark when the sun goes down :2 cents:

So, all this rhetoric across dozens of news agencies saying that the vote may have been tainted due to the presence of 100K russian troops plus tanks is just a bunch of hokum?

I don't know, call me crazy but I might find casting my vote a little intimidating with all that firepower from one side staring over my shoulder.

Free open honest vote. Feel free to vote your heart. Sure.
