I think its a military aircraft test site. Some people think it is more. I watched a documentary about it last night. I want to visit the secert base.
What do you think goes on there?
They say thats where they developed the U2 aircraft, and perfected stealth technology. It was a very interesting program. I wonder if there is a even more top secert base.
Area 51 is just a chunk of Edwards Airforce Base. This AFB is larger than some countries. One particular portion, on the Nevada side, is the Groom Lake dry lake bed. Here there is a large complex of hangars and runways called Area 51.
Lockheed's famous Skunk Works led by Kelly Johnson tested many of their planes here, the U-2, the SR-71, A-117, B-2, etc. It's likely that newer planes we've not seen yet are being flown there at night. Remember it was between 9 and 7 years after first flight that they revelead the 117 and B-2.
It's said that since Area-51 became so widely known all the really sensitive stuff has moved to a base in Utah where what was the worlds largest hanagar still stands. Inside this hangar stands other smaller buildings.
They think two projects we were running were called "Grandfather" and "Aurora", and probably planes which use external-combustion propulsion which supposedly leaves contrails which look like soap on a roap. (Or ben-wa beads, for this crowd)
