Affiliate tracking, how?
Hi
Can someone please explain how the cookies are deployed and read? 1. Potential buyer clicks on affiliate link, at this point how does the cookie get deployed onto the buyers computer? 2. Then when potential buyer is on merchant site, how does the affiliate program script get the cookie data from the buyers computer? Thanks B |
it all starts with the unique tracking URL that the advertiser/Network provides for the affiliate. After the user completes the action required a conversion pixel fires. I've trained affiliate managers and clients to understand this. If you need any help here... I've added you to ICQ. I'd be happy to explain so you can understand.
Good luck, Chase |

Really depends on the tracking setup. Some work via the site in question passing the affiliate tracking to the join form and then getting it back on successful signup. Others work via the processing company reading the cookie (such as CCBill) since they set the cookie in the first place.
