Thinking about moving to warmer climate. Where should I go?

Fucking sick of all this frigid weather.

Ideal destination would have:
  • Consistently warm weather
  • Great beaches
  • Moderate cost of living
  • Predominantly English speaking population
  • Laissez-faire / Libertarian government
  • Excellent (fast) internet

Where should I go?

L-Pink 03-04-2014 08:48 PM

You didn't mention "guns" so cross Florida off your list.

Private gun ownership is a good thing IMO, but it's not a non-negotiable issue either way for me.

Robbie 03-04-2014 09:06 PM

I think The Bahamas would fit your criteria.

American Psycho 03-04-2014 09:07 PM

Miami has lots of sluts

Does such a place that fits this exact criteria exist?

Indeed. I've been churning over this question myself.

Doesn't meet his criteria of a "Libertarian Govt." there anymore with the condom law going on in California.

Hell, California always had the reputation of being a "liberal" minded state. But these days, they are like the fucking gestapo. lol

freecartoonporn 03-04-2014 10:04 PM

Maybe you do belong in Tampa :thumbsup:thumbsup

I never "lived" there but I've spent enough time in Panama to tell you it has just about everything you want on your list. I think yesterday the Economist came out with it's most expensive cities in the world list (Singapore toppled Tokyo for the distinction) and Panama City, Panama was in the bottom 10.

Panama City feels like a US suburb, plenty of malls, every American food franchise you can think of and the people are real friendly. They use the US dollar and English is prevalent, though some only speak Spanish.

Easy to get a Panamanian passport if you have a couple hundred thousand to put in escrow for 5 years (or something like that). Three hours from Miami, hot weather and beautiful beaches - a lot of beachfront properties are being bought by Americans.

Great internet. Government? Well, it's a democracy and it's not to the left like Ecuador, Venezuela and Nicaragua. Noriega was a long time ago.

Hmmm. For some reason Panama always slips my mind. Don't know why. Will look at it closer. Thanks for the tip.

Rochard 03-04-2014 11:08 PM

I'm moving to Hawaii in five years.

Every one tells me I'll get "island fever" but they don't seem to understand that I work from home and rarely go out of town.

A lot of people say it's expensive, but so is California so whatever.

You obviously have no idea what it costs to live in Venice, CA. Prices doubled within 6 months after Google opened an office there last year. Prime locations in Venice, CA are among the most expensive places to live in CA when calculated by SQ/FT.

X_X_ROB_X_X 03-04-2014 11:51 PM

Once you find that place please let me know. I'll be right behind you.

it is sweating HOT over there

clickhappy 03-05-2014 12:14 AM

Boca Raton fits almost all that. Its very white, Jewish, clean, safe, affordable and beautiful beaches and weather. But boring and not close to a major airport. Its March and the weather forecast is 85 everyday.
Or Miami. Always nice weather and beautiful women.

California is beautiful but it's basically Mexico and you pay huge taxes so they can give your money to welfare Mexicans and you get nothing back.

Sounds nice. But sounds kinda like The Villages.

Coast of Portugal would seem to fit the bill. Lisbon is full of Brits (if you can stand us); great weather, beautiful women, not too expensive, great beaches and I believe the internet is top-notch (:

Where should I go?

LA of course, the Valley is not too expensive.

Your insult makes absolutely no logical sense whatsoever.

I did not call anyone in this thread a leftist. I simply made a general (true) statement about California.

If you happen to be, in fact, a leftist, then fine. Great. Knock yourself out and enjoy the rotting fruits of your ideals.

But again... I did not call you anything. :321GFY

That looks pretty damn nice.

Looked into Panama, and I'm thinking it's just too damn hot.

Cairns is looking pretty good though. Will dig deeper. Thx.
