I need to move soon, too cold in the upper midwest!

It was a glitch, it still got down to about -14F, however.
When things get below -10F, it starts to become a matter of flipping a coin whether I can get my battery to turn over my car.

The cold itself is something I can tolerate, when it remains this cold for over 4 months, things become weary.

Don't be a pussy.

the good thing about adult is that you can work from home, no need to move around the city as other jobs hehe ... a hint: move to Tucson, cheap to live there

~Ray 03-03-2014 07:18 PM

move to vegas

L-Pink 03-03-2014 07:33 PM

The cold weather would make me live like a hermit.

Move somewhere warm where being outside is part of everyday life.

I hear ya. Chicago is where I hail from and it's only amazing 4 months a year tops.

ErectMedia 03-03-2014 09:08 PM

Winter has been brutal. Moving to Florida in 3 months if everything goes smooth as I've had enough. Scary as I've only ever lived in Chicago but fuck it worth a shot. Hopefully I'm not crying like a bitch soon "It's too hot here" :1orglaugh

I got a friend with a low tier job out there, so it much be cheap since he's doing alright. He likes to post images of temperatures on FB so his midwestern friends get upset.

California is my ultimate destination. I've got a few friends in Arizona and in Oregon.
I work inside, but yes I like to be able to go out whenever I need to with little worry.
I said I was moving a year ago, realisically it's about 2 years away. I've got a paid off house but moving takes some thought, which I'm doing.

I'm upset because I broke my scooter kickstarter, below 0F it turns over real hard and I broke the kickstarter coupling. Electric start only works at about 10F. :(

There are some advantages to being white:winkwink: Assuming all things equal, frostbite is more likely to take hold on darker hues than whiter hues. Granted I'll cook much quicker in the sun. Being black is equal to an SPF of about 5.

There is the reason why most powerful/rich countries, cities are where it is a decent winter. Work ethic and the need to improve your conditions (as opposed sitting under the palm and chilling).

And keep in mind that this was record cold winter in US, so this is not usual, next year it will be normal.

This is true, it's why most intellectual achievements happen in the higher latitudes. People and evolution are shaped a lot by environment. I still firmly believe that a lot is left up to the individual, but people as a whole tend to reflect and react to their environment. Hence long winters means working and intellectual pursuits indoors. It really doesn't matter to me, I've spent indoors all day when it was beautiful plenty of times, key to success is to not change your work habits on a whim such as good weather.

You probably don't have months and months of it however.

I lived in Florida and it was wonderful. St Pete Beach was 80 and beautiful everyday in Feb while NY was having a blizzard.
Florida is the only state that doesnt get any snow, year after year.
