Hypothetical Scenario - Number of people you can trust with your life....

You are going to enter a room, and be strapped to a chair - Infront of you is 5 million in cash. 3 Other people (Chosen by you) are going to enter the room and sit in three chairs around you - EACH HAS A BUTTON....

3 Rules (No exceptions)

1) If NONE of them press the button - after an hour, the 5 Mill is yours - Tax free!

2) If at any time during the hour, one of the three presses the button, YOU DIE and they keep the 5 Mill - With no legal repercussions or ramifications.

3) You cannot make any 'deals' about sharing the cash - WINNER TAKES ALL...

Now, could you find 3 people who you could trust enough to go into the room with you?

But heres the FINAL TWIST... None of the three people can be related to you by BLOOD (Family) or by Marriage...

Could you find 3 people? I couldn't :( I'd have to decline....

nexcom28 03-02-2014 01:47 AM

Why are they pressing the button again?

Cause they get to fuck you over, with zero consequences, and keep 5 million for themselves ?

incredibleworkethic 03-02-2014 02:00 AM

I can count 3. It was hard. But I'm almost certain I'm correct in choosing.

I would take the gamble.

P.S.

Chaturbate

Antonio 03-02-2014 03:02 AM

My whole family* and all my firends

On the other hand, my nephew who's 13 would probably press the button as soon as he understands the rules ;)

Antonio 03-02-2014 03:03 AM

ok, missed the no family part

seeandsee 03-02-2014 03:55 AM

I would ask 3 people but not sure would 1 press the button :)

freecartoonporn 03-02-2014 04:08 AM

i have couple of friends who would surely press that fucking button without thinking .
god bless me.

Rethink your friends, perhaps?

Ramirez 03-02-2014 04:12 AM

I couldn't think of a person. All of them would press the button. Damn.

ottopottomouse 03-02-2014 04:47 AM

I can think of 3 people I would and have in the past trusted with my life but even them if you waved 5 million in cash under their nose would push the button until it broke.

Manfap 03-02-2014 05:38 AM

I'd pick 3 blind/deaf/dumb quadriplegics.

I win.

Phoenix 03-02-2014 06:22 AM

for 5 million...no legal woes...you couldn't trust anyone

pornmasta 03-02-2014 06:27 AM

it means people who are ready to kill for 5 millions ?
I'm not sure that so many people could kill just for money, they have to think "it's good".

EddyTheDog 03-02-2014 07:07 AM

2 possibly - I don't think I could find a third...

L-Pink 03-02-2014 07:12 AM

My closest friends would race each other to hit the button like contestants on Jeopardy.

"Killing Lee for 5 million Alex" :1orglaugh

No one, if there is anything Ive learned from my short life is in the moment, most only give a shit about them selves. There also the type that screw people over and theres alot of people like that under 30.

SilentKnight 03-02-2014 08:32 AM

I can think of two - but not three.

nexcom28 03-02-2014 08:55 AM

If it's not family them no fucking chance.

Vendzilla 03-02-2014 09:08 AM

5 million? Really?
I have people in my life In trust with the important things, this is bullshit.
You can't rate the people you trust when that much money is involved.
I have my family which is beyond most anything like that, including my daughter. I have 2 friends, one I have known since the crib and the other for over 20 years that are going to be standing with me when I get married next year. And I have a woman that loves me.
So I'm damn lucky

JD 03-02-2014 09:50 AM

Thankfully my friends would also understand that the second I get the $ I'd be splitting it with them all. Everyone wins. :D

3) You cannot make any 'deals' about sharing the cash - WINNER TAKES ALL...

TheSquealer 03-02-2014 10:34 AM

The truth is that very few people would push the button if they know the people they are killing and know others will see them do it. Kin incidentally would be far less likely (kin altruism)

The fact that its personal, that it's someone they know and the fact that others are looking, are each factors that on their own, engages ones moral reasoning as a primary decision maker, rather than rational reasoning. Those 3 factors combined would likely deter almost anyone from pushing the button, regardless of your opinion of them and their characters. It might only be likely to happen where sociopathy or psychopathy is present in one of the individuals where there is no moral reasoning and no negative emotion tied to the decision.

However, put each person behind a closed door,.. where they can't see the victim and where they know others will not know they pushed the button... and you're likely fucked. This scenario which is wholly impersonal, only engages the rational reasoning systems as the primary decision maker and moral reasoning does not play a role. As anyone knows, we can rationalize any decision. This is actually the true test of friendship.

Incidentally, if you think you are not worth 5,000,000.00 to your friends.. first and foremost, its not your friends that are the problem. You choose your friends.... and don't rule out the fact that you might just be an asshole.

ErectMedia 03-02-2014 10:38 AM

I'd like to think I have 3 friends that wouldn't do it but when ya add...

"2) If at any time during the hour, one of the three presses the button, YOU DIE and they keep the 5 Mill - With no legal repercussions or ramifications."

guess I wouldn't be sitting there calmly :1orglaugh

Struggle4Bucks 03-02-2014 11:11 AM

Most people don't want to live with the idea they are responsable for someones death...
The vast majority simply will not push the button....
I don't think it has to do with trust... because indeed who can you really really trust... it's about fear and guilt and not having the heart to carry such weight...

Well, actually thats OK... My Thread - My Senario - My rules etc... :)

I'd give that to JD... If he has 3 friends who would 'just know' then fair play. I dont :(

What I really meant was that you couldn't all sit down before hand, have a conference and make promises, or sign contracts etc...

But if they 'Just Know' then fair play :)

sandman! 03-02-2014 11:44 AM

i could find 3 :thumbsup:thumbsup

I wanted to include that kinda thing in my orig post :thumbsup

But couldn't think of a way to do it - But... 'Ockhams Razor' at work... The simplest way IS to suggest they are behind closed doors :winkwink:

So much better than confusing my already ridiculous OP with 'Men in Black' mind erasing pens etc :thumbsup

The Heron 03-02-2014 12:26 PM

I could find a bunch, some cause they are stupid and believe not killing. Most cause they know I'm fucking generous and we'd all be partying in an hour anyhow.

Jman 03-02-2014 12:30 PM

OK I just called 3 friends, when are we playing???

freecartoonporn 03-02-2014 11:30 PM

millions on gfy sounds too low, lets make it billion

Markul 03-03-2014 12:28 AM

I feel sad for those that don't even have 3 real friends. Besides the squealer nailed it pretty well with his post.

NatalieMojoHost 03-03-2014 04:34 AM

Gosh, for the first time I'm glad we're not married yet :)

Yup, significant other and my two best friends would make three.

They wouldn't press the button cuz they know I'd spend it all on them anyway :pimp:pimp:pimp

Oh, one more thing - if you can't think of any people - simply choose 3 infants. They'll most likely just sleep through the hour, worst case scenario you'll have to listen to some baby's crying for the time, but it's still worth the money :thumbsup
