Cron job question.
 

Is there a way to set a cron job to take random old post and add on front page on a wp tube, and could it take x post from each category?

As about your question. That can be done by a simple plugin. E.g.: http://wordpress.org/plugins/old-post-promoter/

you can schedule it to run via cron

you can install some wp plugin to randomly (or by some rule) reorder wp posts. probably some plugins have option to set time also

with cron you can set what to run (e.g. php or java script), but in that script have to be written what to do

Post Randomizer
 

After some searching i came a cross this plugin "Post Randomizer", it is 4 years old but it works like a charm everytime you go back to the first page / home it does exactly what the title says.
Take posts from different categories and mix them thru out the blog, this has taken a lot of frustration away.

It seem to be an issue with the next post as it does not change color from page 1 to the page you click to go to, maybe some one want to play around with this and make it up to date.
