CertifiedHosting - Is shared hosting with them good?

I'm currently ok with my shared hosting, but my ressource usage may push me to dedicated in the next few months. They're lacking support for 2-3 modules I would need that may get more support at CertifiedHosting.

Does anyone use them with respectable ressource usages?

Like let's say:
- +250GB disk space
- +1TB bandwidth
- +1000 visitors daily

Have you been accepted on shared without being bullied to upgrade?

I may try them in the near future for 2-3 projects.

fitzmulti 02-24-2014 03:05 PM

I have used them for YEARS! {dedicated}...and they are top notch!

Hand down for CertifiedHosting shared hostings. When your sites will grow, they will say your resources are limited and you need to upgrade.

That's what I wanted to hear and read on some other forums.

When did it happen to you?

What kind of ressources were you using?

It's ok past a certain point. But, I would like some ideas of what is ok.

Just like every other $8/month "unlimited" hosting :winkwink:

myleene 02-24-2014 03:29 PM

I currently have this for 10$/month on shared:
- 250GB disk space
- 500GB bandwidth
- unlimited domains

It's not oversold and it's stable. But the bandwidth is nearly depleted each month with the sites growing and I'm looking at alternatives.

HomerSimpson 02-24-2014 03:34 PM

it's insane amount of diskspace and bandwidth for a shared account...
you should consider taking a server...

sandman! 02-24-2014 03:38 PM

stay with your current host no shared host will give you move space/bandwith for $10 and not give you crappy service :2 cents::2 cents::2 cents:

It seems low to me. The server hasn't been hit with ressource usage that much. My scripts are well optimized and have low demands.

I wouldn't be viable in a dedicated server at the moment as it would cut too much in my profits. :(

A good shared host or a VPS might be good though. I believe there are options available?

Their Nerd plan is unlimited sort of. No max disk size. No max bandwidth but you share cpu, memory and pipe with 15 or so other sites. We were on shared until we hit about a 100 members or so and then video streaming was just too slow because of the shared bandwidth. It would buffer if there were more than 6 or 7 people watching videos. Not bad for $12 a month.

Worked fine at the time though and they installed all of the modules we needed for streaming etc..

We now are on a dedicated box but still not a bad price. I think about 160 a month.

They also have shared/dedicated which just means you have 1/6th of the resources and as your site needs more you can upgrade to 2/6, 3/6 etc. Good shit.

The tech guys are awesome. I highly recommend them.

Get a good VPS.

Both of them would require me to pay +100$/month for my disk space usage. They're well over my budget. :(

I'm awaiting a response from their support on a second ticket and would like to get more views.

They responded to my first ticket and told me my bandwidth usage as well as disk space would be really close to their limit for shared hosting (they felt this space and bandwidth usage would mean I would use hosting for storage and not web use). I felt it didn't bode well.

Not sure why they are giving you shit. Buy a domain name and have them copy and not move your site over to a nerd plan and see how it works out. I had 350 gigs of hdd space and was doing 2 terbytes a month on a $12 shared server without issue.

Maybe they are just trying to up sell you. I dunno. Their vps they call a shared/dedicated. Starts at 69.99 a month. Comes with cpanel and any module you will probably need for video. FFmpeg, h264 streaming etc... https://certifiedhosting.com/shared-dedicated-servers/

Thanks for these infos and numbers on HDD space and bandwidth. I'll take another look at their offers.

Good hosting. Tech support can be cranky.

CPA-Rush 02-24-2014 08:09 PM

i have upgraded to CertifiedHosting this month upon HomerSimpson advice and other few gfy members , no serious problems right now :thumbsup

the ftp does disconnect sometimes but i can handle it :winkwink:

Calico Jack 02-24-2014 11:29 PM

They're great and highly recommended. Give them a shot.

icymelon 02-25-2014 12:53 AM

certified is very good but they do monitor resource usage which could cause a problem if your growing so if your concern is resource usage certified might not be a good option.
