It's pretty fucking insane isn't it? How many people even know wtf what's app is? I know I have no fucking clue and I can't imagine it could be worth that much money.

We're used to seeing things like this in Silicon Valley - it's becoming cyclical... :helpme

Adding VOIP will not suddenly make them profitable.

What FB are buying is mobile users to datamine.

They couldn't do mobile, couldn't do pictures, and couldn't do messaging. Very well.

So, they bought the largest mobile picture sharing service, which now seems cheap at 1 billion. Then they buy a very large mobile messaging service.

They don't care about anything except mining the data. VOIP is so far down the list of important things.

It's underwritten by the NSA, so it's all good.

so, for the moment the only competition for skype remains viber.

I am surprised how skype is not fixing/improving that one... It is not understandable, if I was stockholder I would be pissed.
