the genetic bottleneck you are mixing into that story is the Toba incident, that possibly lowered the population to 10k individuals.

but hey, you read 1 woman in africa is the mother of all of us, its gotta be true. eh?

TheSquealer 02-24-2014 10:58 AM

Haha - was thinking "if like to see how that timeline is explained"

Shoulda known better

The denisovan finger bone?

The Toba theory makes sense - there were clearly dramatic events in the 70000 bce range.

yes, that is our genetic history, 'linked to one woman'.. due to the fact the finger bone is from one woman.

however, we're not all descendants from her, just the race in question

the find basically is a messaging saying 'we don't know fuck all about anything'

I don't think that the Toba incident is a theory, but i haven't gotten very far into it

Of course, not everyone agrees with him.

However, recent archeological finds have suggested that a human population may have survived in Jwalapuram, Southern India.[59] Moreover, it has also been suggested that nearby hominid populations, such as Homo floresiensis on Flores, survived because they lived upwind of Toba.[60]

Haha :)

If you have Netflix - watch Walking with Cavemen. It's a pretty decent walk through of the evolution if man and really well done.

I'm queuing this up, I enjoyed reading your recommendation "Good to Great" so I'm thinking this doc is equally good.

Very cool. I almost watched again last night, as I saw it in my list. There were so many failed branches of early hominids and apes and its a kinda cool "walking with dinosaurs" walk through of some of the major species, their lives, which failed and why and where we likely came from.

It's timely, my Mom and I were chatting a couple weeks ago re: the % of neanderthal in our DNA mix.

bronco67 02-25-2014 11:54 AM

Don't give Ted Nugent that information. He might explode.

Have her call _Richard_... he's the smartest employee, who never yet offered any meaningful or insightful comments on the business he's in nor demonstrated any degree of knowledge or competence with respect to the business he's supposedly in,... and he definitely isn't just sitting there Googling answers at all to random topics to seem smart as he spends his very valuable time, jerking off all day and night on a forum.
