If you don't love it, leave it: OK, I'll leave

Well, my plans to move to Colombia fulltime and semi-retire/produce adult content is now on hold. I have a business opportunity and will be leaving Monday night for Kuala Lumpur for about 18 months. If you had told me even 5 years ago that I would even consider re-locating to the Islamic Republic of Malaysia, I would have told you you're crazy. But here I am, ticket in one hand and suitcase in the other, packed with the best wardrobe $300 can buy at Walmart.

Drove my last taxi shift last night will lease out the car for a year.

As Malaysia is known to be an Adult-friendly wonderland (yes, I'm being sarcastic) I don't even know if GFY will make it through the filters - a lot of Adult sites don't.

So two questions:

1. Anyone out there based in Malaysia?

2. What's a good VPN these days?

420 02-15-2014 11:41 AM

Drug mule? congrats

geedub 02-15-2014 11:43 AM

Picked up some Dickee's work clothes for the build-out, fit me pretty good. And I love shopping at 2:00am

Yeah it is pretty amusing. Normally I get sweaters and things I get are tailored to have a little extra room for chest muscle. I grabbed a cheap fleece one at Walmart when I was there buying a bunch of stuff, seems like it is cut to have some extra room for a beer belly, I guess that works for the normal demographic there :1orglaugh

Good luck to you in your new venture in Malaysia though Randy.

ErectMedia 02-15-2014 12:07 PM

I'm more of a Kohl's shopper for clothes but good luck :thumbsup

L-Pink 02-15-2014 12:26 PM

Good luck and behave.

Move to Columbia and due to circumstances end up in... what? Kuala fucking Lumpur?

The bullshit is so thick? This has to be another fake nick. That's like saying I left Detroit in order to find a better life in downtown Kabul.

Idiot.:2 cents::thumbsup

From everything I read, Kuala Lumpur is very safe - although the US State Dept. warns of pickpockets downtown and occasionally taxi drivers don't use the meter. And the person paying my consulting fee has lived there for 5 years. The plan is to be there until mid 2015. Then I'll re-locate to Colombia, where I have a young daughter. Either way, the US is probably not in my future.

I assure you this is the only nick I have - I feel just one is a sufficient waste of time.

MaDalton 02-15-2014 12:54 PM

well - good luck then!

Tom_PM 02-15-2014 12:55 PM

I remember seeing a show that highlighted the Kissing Prohibited signs there in a public park. Probably best not to hold hands.
Yep, there are signs warning of pick pocket activity as well all around. Never been myself. Good luck.

I opened an account on malaysiacupid.com and closed it about three days later. I'll save my hand-holding and kissing for my visa runs to Bangkok.

What's wrong with Colombia and Kuala Lumpur? KL is very nice and a lot of Colombia is too.

BlackCrayon 02-15-2014 02:11 PM

so what are you going to be doing there?

pimpmaster9000 02-15-2014 03:34 PM

Opening a New York style pizzeria. They have Domino's and Pizza Hut and research shows that the KL middle and upper class are willing to spend more on the step above fast food - "fast casual" if you will. I used to be in the pizza business in NYC many years ago.

Congrats! I left the Us in March 2008 and only have been back one time, for two weeks, since. The US is a shithole police state full of rubes and dipshits.

He got a business opportunity which was not in play in Columbia. :2 cents:

And no, KL is not that bad, actually I am not sure if it is much worse than Colombia. Except being muslim of course.

I've been to Malaysia several times, never had an issue with pickpockets; then again I carry my wallet in my front pocket so yeah.

In regards to the taxi drivers sometimes not using the meter; learn to identify the Filipinos from the Malaysians and you won't have a problem.

Part of my reason for going is the way I see the US veering towards policies that I thought only "bad" countries had. There are opportunities here and no country is perfect, but I'm happy to get out while the gettin's good.

Thanks! I really couldn't understand his negative response, but then again, look at the source. I go where the money is, and for now it's in KL. I still think Colombia is awesome and that's where I plan to retire.

I will be in KL - I've heard it called "Islam Lite", they tend to be very progressive. And hot yes - I'm giving away all my winter clothes today!

Actually pickpockets and bad taxi drivers are probably in every city in the world. If that's the worst the State Dept. can come up with, then I'll be fine.

generally speaking, islam in south east asia due to region culture specific is completely different from what you could expect from muslim guys, from lets middle east (like: screaming, nervous people and sometimes rude people).. in se asia they are usually on contrary to that...

AsianDivaGirlsWebDude 02-16-2014 02:53 PM

Sounds like a well thought out plan... :thumbsup :uhoh :party-smi
