Funny thing about cell phones

I've been using cell phones for years, and every phone has had a display showing signal strength, and not once have I seen the signal get stronger when I pulled out the antenna.

Have you ever seen the signal get stronger when you pull out the antenna on your phone?

Do you think it's just there for psychological reasons or for appearance, like the spoilers on cars that really can't go fast to benefit from one?

DatingGold 03-05-2003 05:40 PM

probably a scam..

asuna 03-05-2003 05:41 PM

Same for me...so I guess the antenna is in fact, just a psychological things! :Graucho

My older phone had an antenna and not once I could see a change in the signal strength when I pulled it out

EscortBiz 03-05-2003 06:09 PM

FiReC 03-05-2003 06:20 PM

if you still have an antenna on your celly its time you get a new phone!

BrettJ 03-05-2003 06:21 PM

BluMedia 03-05-2003 06:22 PM

uhhhhh... a lot of new phones have them still.

Rodent 03-05-2003 06:29 PM

If you got a multiband phone with analog you might see a difference when in analog mode, other then that I bet its all bullshit.

ServerGenius 03-05-2003 06:33 PM

You should try when the signal is low.....then it wil make a
difference

I read that using a cell phone fries your brain and increases your risk of getting cancer!

gothweb 03-05-2003 07:24 PM

I was using one of those digital color Samsung phones... The little dinky antenna actually made a difference.

iroc409 03-05-2003 07:24 PM

yeah, i'm in the habit of not using the antenna, unless the signal is horrifyingly shitty.

But no shit, I have a Nextel I 1000 and when I know several places where the antenna being extended will make the difference in even connecting to the network. Unless you are in a fringe area you will probably never notice.

... in my pants

If you don't use your antenna your transmitting the signal in a different pattern near your head. Still a lot of debate on this. The newer phones are safer than the original phones.

So, what are you saying? That it's safer with the antenna or without?
