What's The PC Word For Black People In Your Country?..
 

I just got told on a forum that I am posting about a black friend - I couldn't use the term 'Black'! - I was told I had to say African-American - I pointed out that he is not American but that didn't seem to matter to the stupid twat mod...

In the UK, if you know they are from Africa or the Caribbean you can say 'African' or 'Afro Caribbean' respectively - However, in general we can still say black.....

I said the 'PC term' - Keep it polite please - Unless you are talking about that cunt mod, in which case you can call him what you like:)...

I don't really get the concept of offensive names. Blacks call blacks by the n-word, that's cool, but heaven forbid should a white cracker use it.

I think that is the norm. I don't think I would ever describe someone as African American.

And your kids? You still think it is cool when it is directed at small children?

I think the better lesson for a kid is "in life, some people are assholes - we need to learn to deal with it and accept it" not "if you personally don't like something someone says, you should crusade to change the world around you and try to bend them to your will"

As each word becomes taboo... another replaces it. Just as we were recently informed by a lunatic in the news that "thug" is the new "n-word". Words are just words. It's what you allow them to do to you that truly matters and the power you allow them to have.

In the UK we don't really have a word for Italians - They are white or Italian.....

In Australia it is crazy - They call dark, Mediterranean looking people 'wogs' - In the UK that is a massive insult for Black people, worse than the 'N' word!..

Also in the UK whites can say the 'N' word as long as it is used very carefully - I live in Hackney and still don't understand the rules.....

'Thug' is a word my very middle class aunt would call a teenager smoking in public...

'Colored' is a great word - It basically was anyone who was not the same color as you...

I suppose in the end it became a word that meant anyone who wasn't white.....

I just think as rational people, it makes sense not to be a jerk if you don't have to. I don't control them but I can control my actions so why not show some class once in awhile?

Who is "rational"? I'm not saying "say what you want". I am saying the world is full of assholes. The world is full of people who don't care. The world is full of disrespectful people. Why teach a child that everything needs to be fair, and nice and neat and clean and tidy when it never will be... ultimately making them ill prepared to thrive on their own.

We do call Italians and Greeks wogs, but its hardly the PC. If used in context it is a pretty offensive word.
The PC term we use for blacks depends where they are from. They are Aborigines/ aboriginals (although certain parts of the media has taken to calling them "original Australians", which is a fucking stupid phrase) or they are blacks immigrants who generally are referred to simply by country of origin. Somalian, Ugandan etc.

There's two black people in town here. One is a nice lady, the other is our drinking buddy who clears our roof of ice when it storms LOL

Edit: For you "omg dont say that!" peoples... Yes, we sometimes refer to him as such, and he thinks its funny to be racist. More-so than us sometimes haha.

Now I would never say that to or about a black man if he didn't enjoy the same sense of humor, too. That would just be rude.
