It always puzzled me why Pharmacies sell cigs in the US. It's like getting them from a doctor...

Emil 02-05-2014 06:14 AM

LOL, a fucking pharmacy have been selling cigarettes? Sick.

Relentless 02-05-2014 06:18 AM

As pot becomes legal a new vice sector store will eventually handle all of these products.

Cigarettes, pot, liquor, sex toys, fireworks etc... All in one store.
The national 'walmart style' chain in that sector will do very well for itself.

tony286 02-05-2014 06:22 AM

its a big choice, it will cost them 2 billion dollars a year.

Sarah_Jayne 02-05-2014 09:29 AM

CVS was my first job in high school. It felt like I spent most of my shift selling cigarettes to pregnant women or carding teenagers trying to buy them.

It's been fun watching smokers get marginalized more and more over the last few years. Hopefully they'll start their own country, and we can carpet bomb them on a regular basis.

eat a lot of junk food? or otherwise 'bad for you' things?

we're looking forward to the new witch hunts; and can always buy from our good native friends

brassmonkey 02-05-2014 01:45 PM

GOOD :2 cents:

its' illegal in ontario to do that, i'm sure that will become standard in the rest of the country if it isn't already.

RyuLion 02-05-2014 02:26 PM

Yayyyyyyyyy! I wish the rest would follow..

black markets are illegal?

Markul 02-05-2014 02:39 PM

Smoking is pretty dumb. Took me 15 years to realize good on CVS.

L-Pink 02-05-2014 02:55 PM

Rite-Aid on the other hand still sells cigarettes along with wine, beer and hard liquor. Now that's a drug store.

False equivalency. Eating a twinkie doesn't affect the guy next to me.

you both pay taxes, which pays for medical, so yes, it counts

but that doesn't matter. Governments will see how much they got from jacking up taxes on cigarettes, and once we all switch to the black market

where will they find the money to replace?

Rochard 02-05-2014 03:50 PM

I read this earlier this morning and found it odd. Noble, but odd.

They sell cigarettes that harms people's health, and then has a pharmacy to make them feel better when they are sick because of it. Seems like win win to me.

izombie 02-05-2014 10:29 PM

But you can still buy meth from the guy who runs the stock room

icamz 02-05-2014 11:26 PM

I heard about this today also. But I bet they will still sell the e-sigs and stuff like that. That is getting much bigger anyways.

John-ACWM 02-06-2014 01:54 AM

Used to smoke and I feel great about quitting it. Now I wish more would do the same.

I bet they make more pharmacy money from diabetic drugs. Which is why that huge candy aisle isn't going anywhere.

L-Pink 02-06-2014 11:40 AM

On the news a spokesman said cig sales were 2 billion a year at CVS.

Tom_PM 02-06-2014 11:56 AM

Good for them. Long term, their customers may live longer now to buy more hard drugs from the pharmacy.

A friend said to me last night that if all 50 states stopped selling tobacco products overnight that the country would collapse because of lost tax revenue. Rather than argue I brought up another subject instead. What an argument.. have to keep selling a deadly substance that is said to be more addictive than heroine, or the government will collapse.

:pimp

Creatine 02-06-2014 11:59 AM

Finally. It's ridiculous how a pharmacy store sells cigarettes.

It's like dentists that give out candy which ruin teeth.

In October {or whenever it finally occurs}, it will be fun to walk in and ask if they sell lighters.

Along with the customers who will now get their prescriptions called into a different pharmacy so as to continue with their one stop shopping habit.

not only from the random buys that happen when you go into a store for 1 thing and come out with 10 things but also from the hardcore protesters that wont shop there anymore due to this change

many years ago before the clean air movement I was with my girlfriend and her mom and we went to some chicken place, they didn't allow smoking so she left, even though I smoke was pissed cause I wanted some chicken and was amazed she couldn't eat the chicken and then smoke in the car, guess immediately after eating she wanted to light up

posting this while smoking Marlboro Light Menthol :1orglaugh

as a non - smoker ( actually ex - smoker ) it still sucks having to walk past people smoking blowing their smoke in your face

L-Pink 02-06-2014 07:15 PM

I've never smoked but hate smoking laws. Bars aren't the same without smokers and live music seems to disappear along with cigs.

My leather coat has had years of smoke/alcohol on it from bars/clubs/concerts. Summer not a big deal but many don't wanna have to keep going outside to smoke in freezing weather.
