why do people assume traffic is some global thing that if you are doing bad others must be too?

there are patterns in stats you should be able to trouble shoot it on your end. not what others are doing.
if for some reason every Wed is bad could be a number of things like Processing. someone could have mailed you on sunday for great conversions and it trickling down now. who knows
there's always one day out of the week where our sales drop about 10-20% with the same traffic. but I still have not been able to figure it out. and it happens every weekPornkings.comComment

the only reason I posted on this - was because several other amateur sites came to me saying that they had noticed a decrease in their sales. (sunday, monday, tuesday).
But just because we're amateur - our traffic sources aren't necessarily the same - however the demographics probably are.
anyway - the biller does effect sales rates.
It's called scrubbing. it's alledged some processors scrub harder at certain times of the month.
the reason they might do this - is because they are approaching the upper bound on how many charge backs they can have - and so they want to be REALLY sure that if they process the transaction they are not going to get a charge back from it.
So there is a second variable.
If 45% of the global internet traffic is Based in the US and the west coast is hit by another worm virus and has ISP/Network outages - you're going to notice a drop in signups.
etc...
Tour and the girls on your tour - is of course - NO 1. but there are daily fluctuations. Some of which go far outside 2 standard deviations ... some even 3 .. and it's at that point that you start scratching your head.
We may never know the real reason - but guessing at something - let's you get on with your day - and tomorrow - even if you don't change the tour at all - sales bounce back to normal.
It's like going to church - it might not do any good - but it makes some people feel better - cuz they think they will okay after death.Comment

The guy asked if anyone else was doing bad, not if everyone was doing bad. Like Roger said, there are obvious fluctuations overall... Processors, Consumer Spending Trends, even days of the week.
Read up on the law of averages.
and I dont remember saying if you own a paysite you know how to run it. I pointed at Brett, then you. I think Brett knows how to run a paysite... and knows more about running a paysite and the effects of that, more than you.

Fletch & Quiet are correct. first one day . . . bitch about a month maybe, but not a single day. Or even a week. If you have steady traffic and convert well, you *might* notice a trend for a week.
