Invicta Watches: Has anyobody ever bought one? Thoughts? Reviews? (PICS)

I'm looking into a really sharp Invicta watch - sub category Russian Diver.

Has anybody ever bought an Invicta and what are your experiences with it? They are fucking huge, but I am loving the looks of these things.

Pics as promised of the one I am looking at

I've had friends that bought them, and I see them in watch shops and kiosks. As a watch fan in general I have to say that I didn't think that they looked nearly as good on the wrist as they do in pictures, but then that's just my own taste. The only other observation that I have though, is that when my friends have had some issue with the watches, trying to get help from Invicta customer service has always seemed to be a hopeless nightmare.

.

iSpyCams 02-04-2014 10:01 AM

I bought one about 5 years ago from Amazon and wore it for a couple years. When my sister visited 3 years ago she removed it from my wrist and decided that she owned it now. She still wears it every day and as far as I know has had zero issues.

For the price you'd be better off with a seiko or citizen quality wise.

Choopa_Pardo 02-04-2014 10:20 AM

What Phil said. Invicta by and large are poorly made "fashion" watches with cheaply made movements inside that will keep terrible time and degrade rapidly. Wildly overpriced to boot. Not worth it whatsoever.

Scott McD 02-04-2014 10:26 AM

Looks like a bondage watch...

Harmon 02-04-2014 10:37 AM

I appreciate the honest responses.

The first thing that made me second guess them was the fact that I spotted one of these out at the Florida Mall in Orlando when I was there last month. The price was one thing, but then the saleswoman pulled out a calculator after quoting me the initial price (after I was like, ok, let me think about it..." and cut me a "discount". On the spot. Withing 10 seconds.

Mind you, the Florida Mall is all pretty high end stores (I'm pretty sure somebody here can vouch for me if you have been into Orlando/Disney area), so I imagine that the management charges a decent price for a 10x10 in the middle of a mall with nothing but people ready and willing to spend thousands (tourists from Europe, Japan, China, etc). It gives it a bit of clout.

When I got home I looked into them further and saw them going for even cheaper than these supposed "discounts" that they were willing to cut me on the spot. More red flags. It doesn't change the fact that I like the way it looks.

I did your usual online research for reviews and they were mixed. Figured I would give GFY a go. Appreciate the honesty. :thumbsup

Choopa Phil 02-04-2014 11:21 AM

I think amazon has them half price today too if I'm not mistaken.

Choopa_Pardo 02-04-2014 11:28 AM

Every Invicta watch is offered at a "discount."

Original price: $465.00
Sale Price: $95.00 !!! SUCH SAVINGS.

They show the 'original' price to make consumers think they are getting a entry level watch for timex prices. Not the case. Save your time and money. It's a cheap product that's trying to be passed off as a higher quality.

srsly? Dude that's a piece of junk. :1orglaugh

Vendzilla 02-04-2014 11:59 AM

I have a small collection of watches
I have bought two Invicta's
One works great, keeps good time. the other just died one day about 2 weeks short of the warranty wearing out, it took 3 months for the Invicta people to get back to me, by that time I threw the watch away.
My everyday watch is a fossil, it's the best all around watch I own.

JockoHomo 02-04-2014 12:07 PM

Ugly as fuck and looks gay IMHO.

I only wear Rolex watches myself.

pornguy 02-04-2014 12:10 PM

They seem to sell a lot around here but I dont own one either.

Right not I have a Tissot as a replacement to my TAG. will NEVER go back to TAG

AaronM 02-04-2014 12:37 PM

I bought a Jason Taylor Invicta last October. Wore it for 2 days till it broke. Did a little research on the brand at that point and realized it was a piece of shit. Returned it for a full refund.

Since then I've spoken with several others who have owned them and only 1 person had positive experiences.

First time buying a watch?

hottoddy 02-04-2014 01:08 PM

Cheap ass Asian watches made for mass consumption and TV shopping networks. They use the same factories that put out many of the fakes, and sell their "premium" watches in cheesy scuba-type cases. Like said above, you'd be better off with any Seiko or Citizen. Check out the PMWF (poor man's watch forum) for lots of better options.

Sly 02-04-2014 01:12 PM

Why not get a real watch? :winkwink:

Choopa Phil 02-04-2014 01:19 PM

Harmon whats your budget? Pardo is great with watches and can point you in the right direction

djroof 02-04-2014 01:21 PM

nice watches!

PR_Glen 02-04-2014 02:00 PM

the winder on the left side and being that big would be a pain in the ass for people who wear it on their left hand. Would catch on a lot of stuff and easy to bang on shit.

the cover reminds me of the russian special forces watch though..

Sednub997 02-04-2014 02:26 PM

I have never seen these watches before.nice designed indeed

PiracyPitbull 02-04-2014 03:53 PM

I was given one as a present for an everyday knock about watch. After a years wear I had to get a sticking hand adjusted and once the jeweler took the back off you could see exactly what garbage these watches are.

Invictas sale price is too much for these watches.

SlammedMedia 02-04-2014 04:26 PM

I've had one for about a year now and have never had any type of issue with it.

mineistaken 02-04-2014 05:18 PM

So buy it if you like it, it's not that expensive and you implied that you were good with money etc. Its not like you considering rolex price range.

ruff 02-04-2014 07:07 PM

I have Timex of the ex family of watches. Very similar to a Rolex, but I don't have to wind it. They start out cheap and pretty much stay cheap. Invicta watches are all over the map. Big discounts on the cruise ships. All over the Caribbean and discounted everywhere. Just google them. You can buy them for $40 up into the thousands. Just fashion junk.

thehand 02-04-2014 07:20 PM

Just make sure you get the Invicta Reserve Collection - they are actually Swiss made - the other ones are not that great.

http://invictawatch.com/collections/...l/7265-reserve

JayAllan 02-04-2014 08:04 PM

The reality with Invicta is that they make great watches. They ALSO make super crappy watches. They even make several similar looking watches that range from cheap crap to nice diving watches. I have an Invicta with Swiss movement that I paid about $500 for that is very similar in build to my Rolex GMT which was a lot more. I have dove with it as well and it is one of my everyday watches. But beware they do make a lot of crap watches as well. You have to do your research. :2 cents:

I'd like to stay under $1,750 if possible. I already have a Rolex Yachtmaster, a Gucci and a Citizen (I wear for everyday use), so I was just looking for something different.

JustDaveXxx 02-04-2014 09:27 PM

I have two Rolexes and I grew out of the bling thing a while ago.

Picked up a limited Edition only 3k made world wide Breitling Blacked out Super Avenger 3 years ago. Have not worn anything else since.

I like it. Its beefy and bullet proof.

My Rolexes feel like a girls watch in comparison. lol

I have half a dozen reserve watches and love them. Never paid retail, never had one break and they keep excellent time. Shopped properly online they're 50-80% off retail. Such a good deal I can have as many fun watches as shoes and sport coats :)

They get a lot more wear than my Hublot. :2cents buy what you like!

Better off with a casio

RFremont 02-05-2014 02:19 AM

Don't mean to be funny but these watches will lose value and impossible to resell. If you stick with a brand like Hublot, Rolex, Audemars Piguet and even Breitling and Cartier, you will enjoy a high end watch plus not lose anything in value... some like AP limited editions go up in value.

tony286 02-05-2014 06:29 AM

You guys saved me $100 thank you. Every week we go to costco, they look good and the price is low enough I would buy one for shits and giggles. So now I wont but they do look cool. My wife has wanted to get me a high end watch for my 50 th this year but I tell her no if I wear a watch 4 times a year its alot. I dont need it with a smart phone.

Not sure if serious or if trolling

Looks like good watches, but am always into more know brands. Maybe am wrong...

iSpyCams 02-05-2014 11:20 AM

Hey as long as we are talking watches, maybe one of you guys can tell me what is the appropriate amount to spend on a Men's dress watch in order to accurately display your income on your wrist, for those few situations where it matters.

A week's income? A month's? What kind of a watch would you expect a guy who takes home 150k a year running his own business to wear?

Eh, I wear a $200 Skagen watch that I bought during a flight about 2 years ago. Keeps good time, looks good, and haven't had a single issue...

Simple is better for me, and I don't need or care about all that "bling" crap. As far as "displaying your income on your wrist", let me ask... why is it important to try and impress other people who ultimately don't mean anything to you?

Probably a better practice to only do business with people that can actually see through bullshit like that..

I agree with you guys of course, however frequently (not so much since I started working in adult) I have had to schmooze with people who are very conscience of social rituals and all that bullshit and sometimes, it's more considerate to play along than to show up to a black tie event in cutoffs and flip flops. Even though I once said that I didn't care to ever be anywhere where jeans were inappropriate, I didn't take travelling abroad into account and being in places where its important to show respect by following all the unspoken (and sometimes spoken) rules of conduct and etiquette.

If you're looking to impress get a Patek Phillipe, Bruguet, A. Lange & Sohne, or an Audemars Piguet.

Just get the cheapest thing that looks nice and people cannot pronounce.
