So who would consider buying Kia K900?

There was a nice handegg bowl commercial.
Pricing does not sound too good though:

not with a Kia :winkwink:

I have a hard time of thinking of a KIA as anything other than a total piece of shit. But I'm sure they're nice cars now.

Yes with kia, if not kia it would be 7-8 years.
And luxury kia would have slower depreciation speed than bucket kia.
Take a look at serious kia's, like that SUV. Did it depreciate to 1/3d of value in 1 year? No. Not even in 3 years.

My folks picked up a new Kia Optima late last year. The interior even of the Optima feels like a BMW 3-series. Great value!

I thought that was a pretty dumb commercial. And you would think he would get his teeth fixed by now. (Just saying....)

On one hand, I would never own a Kia. Just the thought of owning a Japanese (or Korean) car just annoys me. Just not gonna happen.

On the other hand, what defines luxury? Leather seats, wood trim, sun roof, and a snug fitting door? I watched a show on how they make a Rolls Royce and what a crock of shit - Really nice cars, but that "Walnut veneer trim".... Is really nothing more than a every day average block of wood with a very thin slice of Walnut wood trim on glued on (VERY THIN I might add). At this point luxury is mostly what you are willing to pay for it.

pointless to argue actually - Kia, Hyundai etc rarely dared to sell their big limousines in Germany - and if they did, like Lexus, the numbers where minuscule

and the depreciation is horrible, just look it up on mobile.de and the likes

maybe it's different in other countries

Indeed. But it may as well have lexus tag, people would not notice :winkwink:

I know that depreciation is big. But not 70% after first year. Not even after 3 years.

I really hate these dumb ass controls for cars now. I was in a 2014 E250 last week and there was no shifter, just a stupid dinky switch on the steering wheel.

Not to mention every bloody car has paddle shifters now, because your suv or family car with zero power really needs this.....

I bought a new Kia in 2000, point A to point B no issues but build quality was lacking, shit came loose or just low quality parts, think Korean glue not so hot. :1orglaugh I'm sure their better now but I would still take a Honda/Toyota over a Kia.

Bought a new Honda in 2010 and no complaints. Next car will either be a Mustang or a Jeep depending if I stay in Chicago/Jeep or move to Florida/Mustang.

This Kia model aside, have to give them some credit for making some quite nice looking cars whereas the German brands are making some great performance type smaller engine cars but the exteriors look terrible with their ugly bulbous noses and huge headlights.

Markul 02-04-2014 02:16 AM

In my country with it's crazy import tax, that thing would probably cost more than a house. So no.

greenleaf 02-04-2014 08:54 AM

I feel like this isn't even meant to sell very well, it's just a gimmick vehicle to try to make the general population stop thinking of all KIA's as $9,000 shitboxes.
