Let's talk about men's cologne.

The first and favorite cologne I ever purchased was Obsession by Calvin Klein. I currently own 17 different types and I change them up fairly regularly.

Unfortunately, my Father in Law wore Obsession when my wife was growing up so that bottle has been banished to the back row. I'm "permitted" to wear anything else I like.

Well, I'm looking for something new. So, I'm open to some suggestions of things that I might not normally consider.

Guys: What do you wear?

Ladies: What do you like?

This can be regular stuff you would find in Macy's or even something higher end.

sicone 02-01-2014 10:15 PM

I have some of the classics, but recently started rotating in Chanel Allure and Dolce & Gabbana The One. Burberry Touch is another one that I like, but recently ran out of.

I'm finding a couple different flavors of it on eBay. Which do you recommend?

Wellness Cash 02-01-2014 10:30 PM

My favorite ever since I was a teen has always been Farenheit, I have a bottle of that, plus a bottle of Tierry Mugler A*Men on my bedside cabinet.

The Wife LOVES Black Code. I just picked up a big ass bottle of it last week. This is my 4th bottle of it.

I own a couple different Armani scents and 1 Givenchy I bought years ago on my first cruise. It's my least favorite but I'd be willing to try others from them. Any specific suggestions?

I've danced around buying Fahrenheit a few times. Never heard of the other one.

After this thread, I'll probably pick up another 5 or 6 types.

Thanks for the suggestions. Keep em coming!

the original one was the best, its almost an orange color... they came out with an "oriental lime" later...its not bad...

ErectMedia 02-01-2014 10:42 PM

Used to wear Joop, Wings, Cool Water, Tommy etc... many years ago. Only old one I still wear is CK One and it still does the trick. Bought a few newer ones like Armani Code etc... :2 cents:

AaronM 02-01-2014 10:42 PM

Might as well just make the bottle shaped like a cock. If I saw that in the store, I would avoid it based on the shape alone....But....Thank you for the input. I'll check it out.

Hmm...That post reminds me...I have a bottle of Tommy somewhere. Wonder what happened to it?

Vendzilla 02-01-2014 10:47 PM

Been using body sprays over colognes, just easier I guess.
I used Red for years, gives each user their own scent, ladies like it

WARNING:
its from the 1960s, so you may get a lot of grey haired ladies chasing you around...

Spunky 02-01-2014 10:53 PM

I literally have a wine cooler to store my collection.trouble is unless you don't use them up in a couple years they lose their scent.storage in a cool dark place helps extend the life.
I also dig patch reminds of the hippy days and it adds a great base for many musky colognes like black code or a diesel. Many chicks commented on the scent. http://www.patchouli.ca/

CyberHustler 02-02-2014 01:37 AM

Joop is that wave bro! That's my all time favorite smell and every female I ever met digged it, feel me? My favorite before that was CK1, since I was 11, but Joop is much better my nigga. I got a collection I keeps around at all times though, besides the 2 mentioned above I also keeps some Hanae Mori HM, Fahrenheit and Issey Miyake Leau Dissey on deck. But that mutha fuckin joop tho, I go through 5 bottles of that shit before I run out of any of them other shits. That's my signature scent homie.

Real men do not use cologne and do not need to...but fat people like you do need to try and mask their odor. Good luck with that.

You definitely should. It's timeless classics. Make sure to buy the first one as they had newer versions which were not so good.

I also like Light Blue by Dolce & Gabanna.

Harmon 02-02-2014 03:43 AM

Chanel Egoiste Platinum is my scent of choice. It has been for many years now. It has a very clean yet sweet scent. I highly recommend it :thumbsup

If you haven't done it before, you may want to consider having a cologne created specifically for you. There are many places that can do this for you. I don't know where you live, but if you visit New Orleans you can stop in at Bourbon French Perfumes, which has been around since 1843. If you do visit them, aside from having them create a custom scent just for you (which they can then incorporate into things besides cologne), you can sample some of their historical creations, like Napoleon's favorite cologne.

And if you're going for vintage (classic revival) with Hai Karate, you can always try the full 60s Sampler, which would also include at least English Leather, Canoe, Brut, Aqua Velva, British Sterling, Stetson, Jade East, Jovan Musk, and Eau Sauvage.

For classic barbershop, try using some Pinaud Clubman aftershave (circa 1810).

And of course, from 1955 there's also Chanel Pour Monsieur, which is considered by some to be the baseline masculine scent.

HTH

It's actually a pretty decent cologne, definitely worth checking out.

I've consolidated everything into a list and will check them all out ASAP.

Thank you for all the input. :)

Used to swear by this until I realized how many other guys do too.

Last year I hit up this place: http://www.luckyscent.com/scentbar/ and spent an hour deciding on this one:

go down to Neiman Marcus and check the creed out, find one you like and check out the tom ford... don't buy online unless you buy from Niemen Marcus or the creed store directly... lots of counterfeit out there

I think these negative reviews are the counterfeit, I always blend the fragrances as well, I'll use aventus with a touch of tom ford tobacco vanilla on my neck

I use a combo-

Always start with a base of Pinaud Clubman Virgin Island Bay Rum (the cologne, not the after shave).

Then just a little of 1 of the following

Very Sexy for him by Victoria Secrets
joop
Burberry Touch
acqua di gio
code
