So we are suing Match.com
Finally a law firm that is going to stop some of this catfish shit all these companies are allowing to happen. First Match.com is going down and then many other dating sites and social media sites. It?s time to pay for allowing these scams to go on for years and knowing about it.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE January 27, 2014 Las Vegas, Nevada $4.5 BILLION AMENDED COMPLAINT FILED AGAINST MATCH.COM FOR FRAUD Melissa Midwest and MelTech, Inc. Join Class Action On Behalf of Models in Fake Profiles After filing the original lawsuit on November 21, 2013, IAC/Match.com released a false statement claiming they are ?adept? at screening fake profiles and that Plaintiff's case pending in the Southern District of New York before Judge Furman (case #: 13-cv-8351) is lacking in factual or legal basis. Plaintiffs Melissa Midwest aka Melissa Harrington and MelTech, Inc. (owner of Melissa Midwest's copyrighted images) have therefore filed an amended complaint today with the court including additional comprehensive legal and factual support for their claims. The amended complaint includes approximately 117 complaints from Match.com users posted on a single web site regarding fake profiles as examples, warnings from the FBI, U.S. Embassy in Gana, U.S. Army, and Colorado Attorney General regarding online romance fraud, examples of 3,000 fake Match usernames and approximately 50 fake profiles, identities of the top ten female models who appear in fake Match profiles (including Melissa Midwest, Raven Riley, Cassandra ?BlueEyez,?and Lana Brooke), and examples of four celebrities who were approved in fake Match profiles. In all Plaintiffs' have received thousands of complaints regarding the unauthorized use of their photographs in fake profiles, including at least hundreds from Match.com and People Media sites. ?My web site www.MelissaMidwest.com has been pirated for at least 8 years by Nigerians and others who use Melissa's photographs in fake Match.com profiles and other internet profiles. We have complained to the FBI, the police, and some of the web sites but nobody every responded,? said Shane Harrington, owner of MelTech, Inc. ?They are building a new museum in Las Vegas and have asked permission to put a Melissa Midwest display between Britney Spear and Paris Hilton. Melissa appeared in 38 magazines and her web site was the most successful of its kind in the world for years. She was once once the #9 most searched person on the internet. For Match.com to post her copyrighted pictures in hundreds if not thousands of fake profiles on their web site is inexcusable,? said Shane this morning. ?I was contacted by an industry insider who told me that the CEO of Match.com told him years ago that he does not care where profiles come from because fake profiles increase profits (or words to that effect),? said Plaintiffs' attorney, Evan Spencer. Furthermore, days after filing this case in November, IAC announced plans to spin off its Match segment into a separate entity, a clear indication that Barry Diller and the parent company are trying to distance themselves from the civil and criminal implications of Plaintiffs' lawsuit. The law firm is filing this lawsuit! This is on behalf of tens of thousands of people not just MelissaMidwest. If you are not interested in protecting the models in our own business well than I guess I can't say anything back to that lol...

Midwest Shane, we dont know each other personally. You did however meet Buster who tells me your a good guy. What I am about to tell you is meant for you own good.
1. Don't settle on the first lawyer who just happens to be willing to accept a potential class action lawsuit. 2. Its a rare occasion that there is sound advice here. Its true, a demand in the initial complaint filed or shown in the press release for BILLIONS makes you all appear to be a bad joke. 3. In a potentially high profile legal matter, you spend the money and hire professionals in public relations management to write up the copy, and then have it sent over to a competent lawyer to carefully review it before it is released. 4. You carefully plan out the media / communications strategy, and make sure whatever the message is going to be, to have it published on the right sites, and to have in place writers and copy to counter or suppress anything negative that is stated publicly. |
your attorney uses an aol email account and files multi-billion $ lawsuits.
makes sense. |

B) You didn't prove anything other than you are a massive douchebag filing a frivolous MULTI BILLION lawsuit just so you can get attention for it. Ultimately the public has to pay the costs for your stupid bullshit tying up the courts. C) You are delusional if you think anyone outside a few industry ass kissers and solo model promoters even know who the hell Melissa Midwest is to begin with and you are trying to make the case she is currently famous based on fleeting and faint popularity 10+ years ago. D) It's 100% certain that no one at match.com can be expected to be responsible for a photo used in a profile and approving a profile does not prove willful negligence simply because the photo happened to not be used with the permission of the owner of the image. E) You aren't even intelligent enough to lay out a case for what they did wrong exactly and how this cost you money and how/why it is actionable to begin with. You want everyone to think you are doing it on behalf of a fist full of porn whores and site members who didn't ask you to ... because you care? Give me a fucking break. I hope their inevitable counter suit ends your existence as well as that of the dumb whore you have posing nude all over church properties. You are an idiot. |
Has the class been certified?

Wax statues of Britney Spears and Paris Hilton already exist at Madame Tussaud's House of Wax in Las Vegas, but for some reason they do not have a statue of the much more famous Melissa Midwest. :Oh crap http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_M7-qHAzg2q...bTA/s400/4.jpg http://i605.photobucket.com/albums/t...veron1/jn1.jpg http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_M7-qHAzg2q...fPM/s400/6.jpg Tell us more about this proposed museum...have to check it out on my next trip. :1orglaugh :stoned ADG |
If the match.com legal crew were so inclined, they would rake the OP over the coals for that press release.
and by rake over the coals, I mean thoroughly destroy. That's a huge liability sitting out there. |

I also don't give a shit about the money from this lawsuit it cost me nothing to be a part of! If this law firm can get Match.com and sites like them to remove the thousands of fake Melissa pictures and profiles I will have won already. I get 100 emails a week from people thinking they are going to marry Melissa because of these scams. Some are very sad where people have sent what they believe to be a hot girl tens of thousands of dollars to come marry them. Some have sent their life savings to these fake girls/scams and Match.com has let this happen and it's not right and it's not legal. They know what's going and don't care so I am going to speak up.

I guess we will see, my things have a crazy way of working out! Nobody thought Melissa would make millions of dollars but she did thanks to my crazy ideas. People told me 10 months ago that ValMidwest had no chance in this business and the single market was dead but her site and things we are doing will make close to $400k in her first full year and in a couple years we will be doing a million plus with just her. It's funny how so many of you know so much. I have made a good living doing the opposite of what 99% of you say so no reason to change that now ;) |

Shane, only you potentially know what is really going on in this case. Do your best to keep an eye on the lawyers. I hope you have written stipulation that any mention of Mellisa Midwest requires them to give you first right to review. If they ever attempt to release a statement like you just did - honest to God, you need to bitch slap them and in writing tell them what I just told you. Otherwise ... good luck! |
