They must conduct random searches of 90-year-old women, little kids, airline pilots with proper identification, Secret Service agents who are members of! the President's security detail, 85-year old Congressmen with metal hips, and Medal of Honor winning
former Governors.

What does profiling at an airport have to do with who did a school shooting - ALL of your examples are internal matters - not international, like someone trying to fly out of New York with a bomb in their shoe.

Let me add to this....

I probably wouldn't have used the term "racial profiling". It's a matter of profiling based on certain criteria:

age
ethnicity
religion
native country
etc.

There is NO possible way that they can search everyone at the airport. So it is ridiculous to perform a completely random search. We don't have the resources to search everyone. So given the fact that most terrorism relating to airplanes has been committed my muslim males between the ages of 18 and 35, why should we waste time searching an old black lady when we could be doing more random searches of people who are actually comitting the crimes.

If I'm not mistaken, the point being made here is that profiling is better than just random harrassment of travelers.

BTW, I saw a little 7-year-old girl have to go through the random harrassment at an airport. Sucks!

We ARE talking about profiling at airports - and what it CAN do, opposed to ignoring it. It's pretty obvious that it doesn't apply to everything that happened in the world since 1972.

I have boarded an estamated 15-20 flights sence 9/11 and have been "randomly" searched EVERY TIME. I think racial profiling is already going on, an occasional young child or white lady are searched to try to hide the fact.

If there was a report that a white guy with blue eyes might have a bomb at an airport - would it be wrong to check all the people that fit that profile?

Muslim is a religion not a race. To justify racial profiling by sterotyping the demographics of a religion would never be used against white people.

If you want racial profiling against brown people in airports, Your justifying searching every white kid that enters school because a small number of white kids are responsable for most school shootings.

I think that the term 'racial profiling' isn't accurate, more like 'culture profilling' would be better.

i feel what your saying, esp. about the oklahoma bombing thing but i have been profiled ever since i can remember, not because i look like a terrorists, but because i FIT THE PROFILE.

I would say that if there was an outkast group of white kids that all wore black, listened to Marilyn Manson, were angst ridden, we should probably pay more attention them potentially shooting up a school than the football team.

That would not be an example of "racial profiling", and that description is not accurate for the majority of school shooters. The only thing that is accurate of them is their skin color, same with the examples in the first post of this thread.

Im just saying racial profiling against one race because they fit a profile for 1 type of crime but not doing it for another race fitting a different crime is a form of racisim and discrimination.
