What operating system do you use?
Wanted to see what fellow GFY webmasters use as their operating system.
I just installed Windows 8.1 and i'm not too happy about it. |
You forgot XP. Support officially ceases in April, I think. Any 0-day exploit after that is not going to be patched.

Yes, most people would NOT be using it except that it is pre-installed on most new computers. Certainly the majority did not "upgrade" to 8.
Oh and one more thing, just because they give something a higher number in the title doesn't mean it is it better. It just means it is newer and that is not always the same thing at all... |
Just to be pedantic Mac OS is actually OS X.
We run Windows 7 using Parallels on some of our Macs. |
We use every operating system in the list on different machines but prefer OS X (Mac OS) for design and stability. Seems we're rebooting windows machines almost every other day compared to weeks of uptime with our macs.

Weird, thought Linux is just the kernel... :winkwink::winkwink: Change it to GNU/Linux pls

Win7. It's pretty good, no issues. I don't spend much time worrying about operating systems or trying to tweak them - just open it up out of the box and run with it.
tweaking your OS is so 1997. |
8.1 :2 cents:

It's my understanding that most everyone who has actually read up on the matter "downgrades" to 7 when purchasing a new PC however. http://i.qkme.me/3rjf93.jpg |

|
Windows 7 for workstations , centos for servers
|
I use Win 7 :pimp
|
Windows 8.1, touch screen FTW
|
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit on my gaming/some work desktop and Debian/Arch dual boot on my other work computer. I want to move to Windows 8.1 but I don't know if all my games will work on it (I own 786 games on Steam, lots on Origin, uPlay, Desura, GOG, etc.. and a pretty large boxed collection from the early 90's until recently!).
I use Stardock's Fences program on my Windows 7 desktop and I love how well I can organize all my shortcuts with it. |
Windows 7 on both my computers, windows 8 is a failure.
