NameCheap . . .

Emailed me with invoice to extend hosting and domain saying my domain expires by 22nd of January. I said I wouldn't need their services anymore, so they decided not to wait till the 22nd and simply cut my site off today. Bravo!

Markul 01-15-2014 01:37 PM

Well you did say you did not need it ;)

tanakah11 01-15-2014 01:41 PM

yes but he paid till jan 22. so they should have waited or they must return his difference back.

VikingMan 01-15-2014 01:46 PM

They are just a reseller so perhaps they had nothing to do with you getting cut off.

Well, not a big deal with one domain that was not used extensively, but imagine if it was your bank acting like that, just saying - pretty strange of them, i did not expect that.

This, they are a enom.com reseller and was the domain in redemption period? pending restore? Makes a big difference.

No, nothing fancy, just a domain that expires on 22nd of Jan.
I suddenly received an invoice, thought I paid domain and hosting upfront.
So I asked what was it for, apparently its for future services, so I said, thanks,
no I don't want to extend the hosting.

They emailed me to confirm I don't want it, so I did, but I didn't know i was meant to become effective
like NOW, site was down in an instant then.

at least they dont have a 30 day cancellation policy. you owe use for another year because you didn't cancel 30 days prior to expiration. gotta love that. I can think if 2 companies that do that off the top of my head. others cut you off before the period you paid for. I would at least request a refund. In fact due to the fact they broke the contract with you by terminating early I would say you are owed a complete refund for the entire year hosting and domain registration

And hos is that relevant?

He prepaid for hosting until 22th. This is unexplainable. Ridiculous. WTF actually.
Some dumb/rogue employee?

Exactly. This is pretty shocking actually, even close to unbelievable when talking about reputable companies...

Do a chargeback. You have all reasons for that.

Sid70 01-16-2014 05:40 AM

I will post the progress.

brassmonkey 01-16-2014 10:00 AM

go to the enom and tell them what happened :2 cents:

Sid70 01-16-2014 11:06 AM

Okay.

They send invoices 7 days prior the payment day.
So when I received that I should have simply ignored it,
instead I have initiated cancellation, it's written some where
if i click CANCEL it means service cut immediately.

Fuck that shit.

InfoGuy 01-16-2014 12:22 PM

So did you just cancel the hosting or the domain too? If you want to keep the domain, you better put in that transfer request before it expires.

I cancelled, right, but i didnt read it becomes effective in 24 hours, in fact, it was cut in a second. So I believe i should have not even answered to them until the expiration date.
