Our school has actually warned/told us about this law

ottopottomouse 01-15-2014 01:32 PM

I think that was brought in to fight truancy and parents not making their children attend school. And they will have likely decided to go on holiday in term time as it is a lot cheaper.

schools claim that it makes problems when kids are away for 2 weeks as they are behind.

germany has got the best idea as there schools break up different times. ie one school may be on holiday while another is open. thus holiday firms keep costs low all year round.

I just dont fucking care. I want my kid to go sea shore the way i am able or want to, fuck you, school, the kids will pick up no problem.

That was an interesting fact about school system in Germany. Good for them, they know how to handle their business, that's why their economy is one of the best in Europe.

they seem to do that around here already. not the big holidays like the summer break but the half terms seems to be staggered around the schools.

those 2 week mini holidays have often been odley different school to school.

but its the big summer one in the uk every school seems to be the same, though i think scotland has a shorter summer one.

and its often the long summer one people book on, thus holiday firms in the uk put the costs up.

i can see what the schools are saying about fining in hoping that kids stay in school.

but on the other hand if i had kids i think i would also be tempted to pull them out outside school holidays for cost. also not every parent is abel to get holidays from work during summer break as there work may not let them.

but then i think, will 2 weeks from school be such a big deal? i know the schools claim it, but i know when i was at school 2 weeks is no great deal. i suspect i could have had two months off and still not missed much.

if it had beeen me i would have told the school a family member had died and they had to go to the funeral or somthing.

Sid70 01-16-2014 05:44 AM

It's just a fuckin school, not a prison or a work place. UK is fucked.

Jel 01-16-2014 06:30 AM

fucking disgraceful. Funny how if you pay the £60 fine, that education you are ruining, is fine to ruin. For me that says it all, it's a pure cash grab.
