Anyone here have ATT Uverse? They seem like total assholes to me just signing up online

Im moving across the country in a few weeks and the building I'm going to has a choice of either ATT Uverse or Time Warner. They told me they prefer ATT Uverse.

I went online to sign up and with their packages, if I choose a cheap package they add a $199 installation fee.
All I really want is fast internet but I also chose cable tv. Heres how it went.

I chose a mid level cable tv package with Internet.
If I did no contract then i get hit with $250 in fees.

Then I chose no tv, and got hit with $250 in internet installation fees.
Huh??? $250 for me to stick a plug into a wall?

are they total assholes, or worth it? I dont get this, it feels like a total rape and ripoff

around here they charge installation fee for internet as well, even if you dont need installation. that's how they make money

Do you like their service though? I think the time warner deals are better but if they suck id rather get att

they = the local internet company, im not in a place where we have att or time warner.

We have AT&T and TW here. I just switched from TW to ATT in December, and not 30 days later, I'm switching back to TW. ATT has a substandard, overpriced product, and their customer service is fucking terrible.

Side note: I absolute hate AT&T due to a poor experience.

I cancelled AT&T about 6 years ago for a Comcast phone/internet/tv package.

One month later AT&T sends me a new bill as if the cancellation didn't happen. I call and wait 3 HOURS on hold to speak to someone. Then 1 month later it happens yet again and I also had to wait HOURS on hold. Not sure if the customer support department just happened to be short staffed or if this is the norm, but the wait times were insane.

After the 2nd call it finally got cancelled correct. But I shouldn't have to call 3 times (first to cancel and then 2 call backs) with hours of wait time.

It seems like ALL big corps have shitty ass customer support once they get to a certain size.
