Need a new hosting company in L.A.

I'm with Dream Host for 11 years but they have gone down hill and I really need to get a new hosting company that will allow adult content. Since my server is in Los Angeles, CA - I'd prefer the hosting company to be there so maybe you can buy the server off of them and host it at your place.

I need "managed" hosting because I don't do sys. admin. So, monitoring for downtime/uptime, security upgrades, etc. - all need to be done.

Sorry, let me clarify. I want a new hosting company to physically buy the server from my current hosting company and install it in their data center to start hosting it. Does that make better sense?

i do not think you should ask for them to buy the server.. wont happen not a good business move... you are better off asking for them to move across everything and make sure it all works... that is more viable however you will have to $$$$ for all of that :)

How did you arrive at that conclusion?

sandman! 01-15-2014 11:42 AM

not many hosts will do that.

there are 2 main reasons first reason is most dedicated hosts have a certain hardware setup and they wont want to throw in a random server into the mix second they might not have spare parts for your server what happens when your dell server you sent over has a fried power supply and they dont have a spare one in stock ?

no... you can just rent a new server at any company and migrate data/sites/whatever from old server to new one...

Just go with Certified.. you will not be disappointed.

You want to co-locate . . . which has upsides and down, but essentially that is what you want to Google.

Read your clarification . . . hosting companies do not buy servers from each other. If you are not co-locating now you are going to have to see if Dream will sell theirs (if you don't own it), but I would not hold my breath.

Amerinoc

they are located in California.... but i doubt that they will allow your server in their data center ;-)

Hosts these days will transfer your content to their data center.

If your current server is 11 years old, that would explain the downhill performance. Ask them to move you to a newer box.

So, can someone actually recommend a good hosting company instead of bitching at how you don't understand my post? I'm OK with content transfer rather than moving the server physically.
