Image cropper

I need a program that can:

Crop a thumbnail and apply some type of filter to it that will sharpen it up

Also at the same time resize the actual image to a specific width.

Batch process folders would be a bonus too.

Anyone got any recommendations, free or paid I don't mind.

Not to be a smartass, but doesn't Photoshop have this capability?

Photoshop is best solution for making quality thumbs, but it also most complicated,as you cant make it automated.
I made a php script which pulls list of galleries from mysql database, download random picture from it and then make a thumb by using imagemagick.Works like a charm and i think it's a best solution for automated thumb creation.

Unless one possesses the inclination and necessary skills...

Developers can write scripts that automate the tasks performed by Photoshop. Get the documentation and start writing scripts for Photoshop today.

Nice but probably it would be still too much hassle as photoshop is not linux program, and even if it would,it still wont work since linux servers usually dont use gui.I mean, recently i scrapped 37k thumbs and it was done quite fast and in background, try to imagine same in photoshop even if you have scripts help.

Seriously try irfanview.com it is the absolutely fastest image browser known to man.
It also does a lot of serious editing as well. It will re-size, batch process, sharpen, and a lot more with one click once set up.

Give it try. You will not be disappointed.

Milan_Quantox 01-15-2014 03:12 PM

BatchPhoto did well for us :thumbsup Try it, maybe it will suit you too

babymaker 01-16-2014 12:22 AM

Do any of these let you crop thumbs/pix to a certain size like 300x250px photoscapeis great to batch stuff and resize and add watermarks, but doesn't do exact crops, I think I have downloaded most of the programs here and none did it. Thatis the main thing I need other than fast batch watermarking.
